Is A Date Set For The CM's To Vote On A Contract?

Just curious if anyone knows if and when the CM's are to vote on their contract? And how's the general feeling of Disney's offer?

Like many here, we too have a trip coming up in Dec., and we're wondering how a strike might affect things at WDW.
Having said that, I think that most of the CM's don't get paid nearly enough for the great job they do, and understand the need to stand firm to ensure a fair contract.

A similar side note is that my work's union is (hopefully) winding down a 2 year long contract struggle, so I personally understand where the CM's are coming from.

As I stated in another thread, I wouldn't mind paying a few extra bucks here and there, especially if it helps the CM's out...

The Vote is this Thursday, we should know Thursday Night which way the vote will go.

Additionally, even though the union would be cleared to strike of the contract is not approved, it doesn't mean that they will. They do still have the option of returning to the bargaining table or calling in a mediator. Unfortunately, there's no historical info to go on, but with Florida being a right-to-work state, not every CM is a union member. So ... the affect of a strike is yet to be seen. With all the manager, part-timers, College Program CMs, CTs, and other cast available to help cover any striking CMs, it's also likely that upcoming trips wouldn't be heavily affected.

The vote tomorrow only will authorize the Union to have a Strike or set a Strike Date, it does not mean that the next day that Cast Members would be on strike. Its just another barging chip to get Management to the Bargaining table hopefully a Mediator will be called in but Disney seems to be resisting that idea.

While Disney does have Managers that could fill in the event of a Strike in some areas and use College Program Cast or Part times, but in some areas of Disney such as Characters or Bus Transportation, they do not have enough managers to fill in every vacancies. In the Character Dept you would be looking at Canceling Parades and No Character Breakfasts at the Resorts and Parks. In the Bus Transportation Dept about a Thousand Cast Members are needed to run the Bus Transportation Dept 24 hours & 7 days a week. Sure Disney says they can hire outside bus company to do the routes but finding outside drivers who would know the routes would be a problem for Disney, also Guests in Wheelchairs may have a hard time getting around using Buses that are Not Capable of Transporting Guest in Wheelchairs or ECV’s.

Also a Strike would likely happen during a holiday period such as Thanksgiving or Christmas/New Years week and it hard to get enough Cast Members working during such times yet alone try to Replace Hundreds or Thousands of Striking Employees.

Well ... no you wouldn't, but there could be fewer (or different) characters involved.

"Drawing Board" implies they're all starting from scratch. They're not. There are many elements of the contract that work for everyone, and some that don't.

"Back to the Bargaining Table" might be a bit more accurate.
