Is a Chi worth the money? vs a regular strait iron?

Yes, CHI is the best. I tried the Solia as well, like the prev poster suggested from Folica, and I was really dissappointed with it. Chi all the way.

I get the Chi Turbo, and I get the 1.5 incxh cuz my hair is longer. For shorter hair I would prob get the smaller one.

I love my chi. Don't forget, if you use the Chi or any straight iron, to use some kind of protectant on your hair from burning. I love the silk infusion from Chi for this also.

I have the basic model and it does great on my crazy curly hair. I also bought mine with a coupon from JcPenney's when a sale was going on.

Oh for those that use Chi products, I saw the Chi silk big bottle with the shampoo and conditioner all together for around $22 at Sam's this past weekend. That is a pretty good deal if you just use the Chi Silk.

Eh,

Maybe I'm just hating my hair, or maybe I need to stop reading the ULTA ad in the Sunday paper...

I have straight (not stick straight hair) and always wear it in different variations of an inverted bob. Straightening always helps define that "line" but I can never get it as smooth as I would like.

So, is it worth the money?

YES YES YES!!! (Did I yell that loud enough?)
Best $100 I've ever spent on myself.

I have to agree...definitely worth it. I avoided buying one for years because it was too expensive for my blood, but since my husband is in the military, we ended up with an exchange coupon book for 30% salon products, so I justified it then. If I had realized how big of a difference it was, I wouldn't have waited so long to buy one! It actually straightens my hair and it doesn't take nearly as long :)

My SIL says the CHI is the best as well but I can't afford it. Is there something not quite as expensive that's just as good? I can only afford about $30 and that's a stretch.

I LOVE my Chi... worth every penny. NO comparion to the drug store brands....

Please save your money up and get a CHI. I tried going cheaper and the less expensives ones I tried did not work as well.

I don't want you to waste your money on something that won't work as well.

We were just talking about this at work. There was a consensus between some of my coworkers (African American ladies) that the CHI didn't work for their hair, but the Bliss brand did.

Otherwise, the CHI was a decent brand.

Hmm, I'm on the african American side of YES!!! We have varying textures and degrees of thickness. Mine is medium thick and midly course and it takes me less than 30 minutes with a chi. I use the silk infusion as well to seal in moisture to lock out frizz. I would not use a lesser brand of iron as I would be frying mu hair.

after someone teased me about having "simba" hair, i tried a chi.

now when we vacation in wdw, i no longer have a frizzy mess tied in a ponytail b/c there's nothing else i can do with it.
the chi makes my hair silky straight, and i get tons of compliments on how healthy it looks. even the lovely floridian humidity is no match for my chi!
fyi, i have very dry, color treated hair, and use a serum after the daily shampoo/conditioner. after drying, i use proclaim oil spray before the chi (amazing stuff i get from my stylist - just a few sprays a day, and a bottle lasts over a year).

even my stylist oohs and ahhhs about how heathly my hair looks and feels despite my flat-ironing daily - the chi is one of the best investments i ever made, right up there with the dyson :thumbsup2 (btw, my original chi is over 6 years old. i bought another, just in case, b/c i refuse to go anywhere without using it....the 2nd is still sitting there, while the first is still going strong!!)
figure the cost of fixing the damage from drugstore flat-irons (trims to remove broken hair, extra conditioning to try to mask damage), as well as replacing them often.....the chi will probably save you money within a year!!

My MIL bought me one for christmas :woohoo:

I had wanted one but I couldn't afford one ..I will tell you that it is the BEST I have used!! my dd and I both use it..one day I was too lazy to go into her room to get and used my cheap one that I thought was really good ...oh my goodness I saw the difference and i'll never use the cheap one again!
