Is a Candlelight Processional dining package really a necessity ?

We have never attended the Candlelight Processional before but this is something my MIL really wants to do. As of right now I have a dining package for it but I’m struggling with using 2 dining credits for a 1 table service meal. We’re going December 1st, Whoopi Goldberg is narrator. What are our chances of getting decent seats to see the show without the package seating? We are a party of 8.

Whoopi is very popular. Unless you are willing to spend a lot of time on line, I would pay for the package. And I'm talking at least 2 hours, maybe more, in line.

That was what I was worried about! Thanks!

We went last year with a dining package and our narrator was Robby Benson- he was great! but not as popular as Whoopi. The dining package line for the 5:00 show started before 3. We got in line about 3:30 and were pretty far back already. I did notice people coming in with the dining package tickets near to show time and they did get seats but far to the right or way in back. I saw alot of stand by guests let in but they mainly fill in the sides and back. I would stick with the dining package and get in line early if you want a good seat.

You absolutely need the dining package. The dinning package people usually take up most of the theater and then IF there are seats left, they start letting the standby people in. Standby people sometimes line up hours in advance and not everyone will get in.

For Whoopi I would expect to queue 3-4 hours in advance and maybe not get a seat anyway.

You are paying for a seat with the package.

Yes, keep the reservation because she is extremely popular. We saw her stand by line start right after World Showcase opened!

You don't have to use your credits to pay for the meal. You could pay OOP for this meal and save those credits for something else. With 8 people, you could pay for 4 with credits and pay for 4 OOP in order to have enough credits for another 1 credit meal.

I hadn't thought of this...I don't know why I was assuming that everyone would have to use their credits.:rolleyes2 This might be a dumb question, but would I have to order a full meal for the kids? I have EXTREMELY picky boys who would much rather eat somewhere else.

You don't have to order for them, but you will have to pay full price for them, whether they eat or not

Unfortunately, you will still have to pay the package price. You might want to do the math to see what is the better way. For the kids, it's probably better to use the credits here and pay OOP where you can order them less. For adults, it will depend on where your other meals are.

Consider the cost to be for the package not the food

CP is worth it. It is beautiful and an experience to be enjoyed.

do biergarten lunch and pay OOP. this was one of my picky kid's favorite meals, it is beautiful around xmastime (they decorate for the holiday inside the restaurant) and it's the least expensive option outside of breakfast.

or do garden grill for breakfast for a buck less ;)
