Hello! Our old laptop is infected with virus and no longer usable. We are going to take the plunge and get an Apple:cool1: Is a 17" too big to work with on the go? I would like to be editing, scrapbooking while I wait for my kids at various activities. I'm just afraid it will be too cumbersome. Can I have it sit on my lap and work on it? Our old laptop has a 15" screen that I felt was too small to "see" on. The guy at the Apple store said it was probably the resolution of the screen and not the size. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

A 17" Apple laptop screen is huge and less rugged than a 15" and the thing weighs a ton!!!, Personally I own several 15" Macbook pro's for professional use and I'm typing my answer on one of them!.

I would advise a buying the 15" It has excellent screen resolution and is just about the perfect size. Battery life is also better.

Also buy the 'AppleCare' package when you purchase your computer it extends the warranty.

You will probably also want to buy a copy of Parallels for your machine this will allow you to run Windows for those programs which just dont have a Mac equivalent. Talk to the crew at the Genius Bar about this as there are several options here.

I have a 17 in Sony laptop that I consider a mobile computer not really a "laptop". It is a little hard to balance and it gets WARM. I would consider the 15in for what you plan to use it for.
