Is a 1 bedroom value at AKV that bad?

We're working on a last minute trip. Our dates are 4/5 to 4/10. I realize it's peak spring break. Anyway - there was a 1 bedroom value (which I reserved) and a 1 bedroom at SSR. Which would you go with? I just want to make sure we won't be miserable in the value room. We adore AKV and would rather be at that location.

Is there still a whirlpool tub in the value rooms?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't think you will be miserable. As you know AK is amazing! It sounds like you really want to be at AK. That room may not last long ( if it is even still there).

Thanks - I did reserve the value at AKV. I don't know much about those rooms as we always book 11 months out and stay savanna view. We just added on and got last year points and thought "what the heck"!

Are you in the Jambo House or Kidani Village? I'm not sure what the difference is in Value and standard room and I couldn't find it in the vacation planner. I'm thinking it's the parking lot view at KV, but I could be wrong. Persoanlly I would go with SSR.

The value villas are all in Jambo. The bathroom in the value 1 bedroom does have a whirlpool, but it is part of the bathtub it is not by itself.

You can have a view of the sunset savannah, the pool or the parking lot.

PS. I have a value 2 bedroom for September. I love Jambo house, and I'm looking forward to this trip.

We've stayed in the 1BR value room at AKV and it's very nice. It was just DW and me, but we had no issues at all. Keep the AKV!

We have stayed in one and loved the pool view.

We had a 1br value last year, I love the size for the 3 of us (2A and 1 infant). I don't quite remember about whirlpool, but I remembered the tub was really tall for me to get into (I'm vertically challanged). But it was HEAVENLY to soak in...

HI Bobbi:) Sorry to sound daft but I am not sure I understand (and I am quite interested in booking a value room in the future) - are the whirlpool tubs similar to those in the main bedrooms at Kidani or are they smaller?

I absolutely LOVED the size of the bath in our 1 bed at Kidani, and I wasn't too bothered about the bubbles - I just loved the size and depth of the bath so that I could have a nice wallow!!!:goodvibes I also loved the slanted back which meant lying in it was so comfy:cloud9: - can you tell I LOVED the Kidani baths!!!:goodvibes

Many thanks for any info:thumbsup2

I have not been to Kidani but the tubs are plenty deep in the value 1 bedroom, but there is no separate shower.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I'm going to stick with the AKV value for now. I feel lucky even being able to get that! I'm going to keep calling and see if I can't get lucky again with getting in savanna view. Who knows right!

Thanks again!

Maybe you'll get lucky and get one of the 5 value 1BR's with a savanna view! We did and now I don't think I will ever book savanna view gain. I'm a gambler and since we only have 100 points, I LOVE the value category.

Have a great trip!

I just want to throw this out there, we got "lucky" with sav view 1br value last year and all we saw was grass. The whole 5 nights we were there. Seriously... not an exaggeration. And we used the room a lot for rest and naps since DD is still so young.

So don't be too disappointed if you don't get Sav view :)

I think you will be happy with the value at AK. The only difference between value and standard at AK is that the value does NOT have the chair that converts to sleep area. The value can only hold 4 people while the standard can hold 5. That is the ONLY difference! You should be very happy with the value room.

The value units are slightly smaller than the standard size units. The value category was created because the room size ended up being less than the standard room size after the change-over from hotel room to DVC unit back when Jambo was first being converted. I believe they are somewhere around 3 feet shorter. This is the main reason there isn't a sleeper chair, it simply won't fit. It is a great value point-wise and would be fine for 4 people.

Not sure if you meant seeing if you can upgrade to a NON-value or not, but I've read/heard that they are not taking requests on the Value villas. Apparently, there are 4 savannah view value 1brs, 4 pool view value 1brs, and 2 parking lot view value 1brs, and what you end up in is just luck of the draw and a matter of what's coming vacant when you check in. Source: THIS MAP. Value villas are those on Giraffe and Ostrich trails, with the numbers out to the side rather than on the room.

If anyone knows different, I'd appreciate the info, because I might actually be interested in requesting a pool view on my value 1br ressie in Sept.!

You are correct. You can not make a request for the value rooms. I meant I was going to try to get into a savanna view room. Based on everyone's comments I'm just going to stick with the value and try it. It can't be all that bad and my boys are still small.
