Is 9:30 ridiculously late for an ADR?

So I switched my trip to May and was up until 2am last night booking ADR's. I really want to try Ohana for dinner. But the only time I could get was 9:30pm. I booked it, but am second guessing myself. I plan on us being at MK that evening then heading over for dinner. Wishes should be at 10pm so I was hoping we could see it from there.

Have I totally lost my mind booking a dinner that late with 2 kids (4&8)? I plan on checking every day for cancellations to see if I can get it earlier.

What would you book as an alternate? I am trying to avoid TS places with mac& cheese kids menus so I have been focusing more on family style and buffet.

You may want to know that 'Ohana stops the activities in the restaurant for children about 9:30. I considered that a plus, but your party might not since you have children.

You're the only one who can tell how your children will handle such a late dinner. You're in good position for viewing Wishes from the restaurant though (assuming you get a table near a window).

Okay, the kids activities things is a huge negative. I don't think this is going to work.

IMO it's to late, my kids 8 & 10 would be having a melt down by that time. Our first trip to the world my youngest was 4 and there was no way he could have stayed up that late never mind wait for dinner that late. We have ADR for Chef Mickey at 8 and I think I'm pushing it there with them. Can you get breakfast ressies and go before the park? That's what we are doing. We'll be there in May too. I can't wait

I guess we could do breakfast there instead. I hear it's good food and fun. I will check.

I love Ohana, you and your children will enjoy it there, however I read that they stopped the activities cocunut racing etc around 9pm or 9:30 you might want to check... Personally I think it is a little to late to eat dinner but if you are going with the intention of seeing the fireworks it could work.

have you tried changing your party size when making your reservation sometimes it opens availability.

Have you seen Wishes from inside the park? Is this your first trip to disney? I think this would help me offer better alternatives

IMO if this is your first time to the world there is nothing like seeing Wishes from inside the park that being said you could do a QS or maybe you can eat at Crystal Palace (winnie the pooh and tigger are there for your kids to interact with)

If this is not your first time at the world and since you have young children maybe you can get reservations at the whispering canyon cafe.

Consider Breakfast there we went and really enjoyed it
.

try an early res at 1900 Park Fare at the GF. much easier to get a reservation and you can hop on the monorail to MK after dinner! Plus, fun characters!!! :thumbsup2

My personal opionion based on my 4 year old..she is so worn out by 8:30 when we are at the parks and that is even after going back to the resort mid day and even napping. She fell asleep in daddy's arms last year watching wishes...:confused3. Plus without the children's activities going on...you may have a sleeping or cranky child or two..

You all are 100% right. It's too late. This meal is toward the end of the trip so they would have seen wishes in the park by then. I will try 1900 Park instead.

I would say with kids it's too late. My kids are actually pretty good at staying up late and waking up late but I wouldn't want to risk a melt down at that time.

For our upcoming trip we have a 9:15 pm ADR at Cali Grill but it's just DH and myself and we are going to watch Wishes at 10 pm from there. I would like it a bit earlier (8:30) but we will manage.

We had two 9:40 reservations this past trip. One of them we were way to tired to make, and had to cancel, and one of them we made but crashed 3/4 of the way through the meal, and had to skip dessert. :sad1:

The problem was that we'd been up since 6:30 in the morning, running from attraction to attraction, monorail to bus to next attraction, etc. It takes a HUGE toll on you, without you realizing it.

I think it is best to get an earlier time to dine at another restaurant, but you could still try periodically check the ADR site to see if anyone cancelled. It does happen and we were able to get an ADR the other night at a time that previously was booked out.

I think thats a good idea, even though your ARD is for 9.30 there is no garantee you will sit that time
we waited over 30 minutes for out table there

If you are okay trying earlier. (Like you are staying in the adjacent hotel). As long as they are not swamped sometimes you can show up say at 7 and get seated early. They try to accommodate people. If you are staying at the hotel where you could just go to the room or a QS if it was a no go I would try this, as you will probably be disappointed. Calling ahead will not work, they will probably say no.

They usually take people at every TS early and even late (when not over swamped) as long as you have the ADR. I would say 90% likely if you showed up at 8:30 they would seat you that being said. My DD5 would not sit through a dinner from even 8:30 - even 9 PM rushing. If you are flying in from CA, you may have a time zone working in your favor.

The poster of 1900 fare has a great idea. IT IS WONDERFUL! There is also CP in MK that is awesome, Dine and Vine in HS, and a # of other good ones. Call and see what they have .. and keep calling until you find what you want. People always cancel, and if you are staying at that resort, sometimes walk up are okay, when others forget (using loosely) to cancel previous made ADRs.
GOOD LUCK :wizard:

I would rethink it-we did 8:55 last year after MK, actually got seated around 9:15 and the kids were beat. My youngest had bread and decided he had had enough and curled up in his seat and slept thru the rest of the meal, but at least he wasn't disturbing others;)

Okay, I was able to secure an 8:20 so I cancelled the 9:30. I am going to check daily and see if something earlier comes up.

Thanks!

I've never been but maybe 1900 Park and then go outside to see the fireworks? I think I saw others suggest that too.
