Is 8:00 too late...

...for a PS at Rose and Crown trying to get a table outside for Illuminations? We currently have an 8:00 PS and plan to show up 10-15 before our PS time and ask politely for a table outside. I've seen people post that they get there at 7:15 to 7:30 and hold a table and give the waiter/waitress and extra large tip, but I don't want to deny someone else the chance to eat. Is it still OK to go out on the patio and stand up if you are seated inside? Any help would be appreciated.

When we did this Oct 2001 I believe our PS was for 730pm
8pm may be too late - those diners arent going to move!

I don't know the set up at the Rose and Crown?? Do they have large enough tables out on the patio part? or is it just like bistro-style tables?

I called at exactly 90 days out asking for a 7:30 pm PS as I had heard that was the best time. He said all he had was 7:10pm and 8:00pm. I told him I wanted to try for a patio table and he said most everyone who books around that time wants the same thing and are also willing to wait on those tables. He suggested the 7:10pm and told me to tell the CM that I was willing to wait for a patio table. He said there was no guarantee, but if I was lucky enough to get it, to tip the waiter beforehand, order each course individually, then eat VERY slowly, and then give the waiter a good tip afterwards also. He also said they are starting to tell people that they can't hold the tables for that long, but most people do anyway. People who get there between 7:00pm and 7:30pm are NOT going to be moving. Anyway yes, I think 8:00pm will be too late.
