Is 7 days at WDW too long?

We just returned from a trip last week which was 4 nights off-site (did DS & WP&M options) and 10 nights on site (8 park days, check in day and one resort day). This trip also had a driving day on each end. I was a little concerned about it being too long. We'd originally booked just the on-site nights, but as the school year got to an end we decided for the kids to skip the last two days (half days) of school and added the off-site nights. The trip was not too long at all. It was just great. We loved not rushing and not having to try to cram everything into one day.

The way we booked ours the money was simple. We bought our tickets about 12M out, right before an expected price increase. We paid for our room 11m out when we booked it. Then we had $2000 set aside in our bank account for covering any of the expenses we had while we were there.

We were just talking about today maybe doing a 4 day trip around Thanksgiving, but after looking at the ticket prices (4 days is only about $50 cheaper than 8 days) we decided we're better off waiting for another long trip.

Our trip was with a 2 year old and 2 5 year olds. It couldn't have been better!

We have gone 2 years in a row for 7 days. Our first trip was DD 4 and DD 9. We do 1/2 day at Epcot and AK each, 1 day at HS, and 2 full days at MK. We also go to MK for 1/2 days on our arrival and departure day. My kids are not big ride fans ... we are there to meet the characters, eat (my kids are foodies) and go on kiddie rides. We do pre-park opening ADRs or rope drop and go until noon when we return to the resort for a swim or a nap. Then go back out for a table meal and evening fireworks. I have found both trips by mid- week, we needed one night off to just crash. We come a long way to Florida and the flights alone cost too much so my girls know we are there to see Disney not lay around a hotel. They are too excited to want to do that anyway. Both times, when day 7 came, they asked if we could move our flights and stay longer: if I could have afforded it, I would have done it in a heartbeat.

Our first trip with both our kids they were 2 and 4 (almost 3 and 5). We drove down then had 10 nights on site, then drove to Naples for one night, then 2 days' drive home.

10 nights was perfect for their first trip. We relaxed and did what we felt like doing - didn't rush or anything!

I also agree to stick to your normal bedtime, eating, etc... schedule. My kids didn't see fireworks, as that was too late for them to stay up.

Our longest was 15 nights (off site), and last trip was 8 nights (and next trip in August is also 8 nights).

A week is perfect to me. We have the time to go longer (DH doesn't join us often though, and a few trips were just me and DD). I'm enjoying it while I can, since DD will be going to college soon! The years fly by, and I enjoy that at Disney we can just enjoy being together.

We have 3 trips planned and paid for for this year. We will be there on the 4th of July weekend 3 day Trip, Columbus day Week End 4 Day Trip and 8 days just Before Christmas. The Christmas trip is the best because we have allot more time.
