Is 50's Prime Time interactive at all or is there just 50's Decor?

Just curious. Trying to decide whether or not to schedule it. We've seen the food reviews, just wondering about the atmosphere...

It is definately interactive - but to what extent really depends on your server. Some of the servers really get into it - others not so much.

It can be hugely interactive. If you get the right server, it is a non-stop interactive blast. :thumbsup2

Oh, and the food is the best on Disney property IMHO.;)

Both... We found a server to be a character...She did tell us to eat all of our veggies and she was a bit of a pain at times (in a good way) and the decor is so 50's... Really cute... The food was good... We both had the fried chicken and loved it...We did have a long wait for our table even with an ADR....I don't know we have not been back in seven years... We have nice memories of it but there are other places we enjoyed more I guess.

What kind of interaction? Singing waiters, waiters playing tricks on the guests, or just "lively staff." I'm not sure what to expect but I'm glad to see the positive reviews...

Just lively... No singing or dancing and the tricks are few and far between... Just a cast of fun servers looking to make your meal like one you would have in your grandmother's kitchen.

This is from my trip report from last September.

A quick check of the time and we realize it's time to eat. At least it's almost time for our ADR at 50's Prime Time Cafe. This is a must do for me. Ever since my first trip to MGM, when we had PS for Sci-Fi, and when we arrived, it was locked tighter'n a drum. So we went across the street to PTC, and I've never looked back.
Our server, Sherry, was a no longer young auntie from Long Island. She was a little gruff. Ok, she was bossy. But sweet. And busy. If you've read Lord of the Rings, she'd remind you of Butterbur, owner of the Prancing Pony, one of the many things lost in the movies. Best quote, "I run and run, but there's never any less of me." Sherry never slowed down. She also never forgot to be funny.
Just before dessert, we got a rather stern warning about my elbows being on the table. Sherry let us know it was our only warning. In the middle of dessert, Sherry comes by and Goofy, who's a little hard of hearing, was propped on his elbows. Sherry makes him get up and sing I'm a Little Teapot, doing the hand motions. She did sing with him. It was obvious most of the cousins had been waiting for someone to get punished in this way. Goofy rarely gets a hand that big when he sings karioke IRL. He still thinks I set him up. Nope, Sherry just knows how to pick them.

Does that help?

You want interactive. Make sure you put your elbows on the table, don't use a napkin and don't eat your veggies.

You'll get more interaction than you bargined for! :)

the best interaction we ever had was during a trip several years ago. My DH was playing around with our youngest DD. He made a paper airplane out of the paper childs menu/placemat and "flew" it across the table to her.

well our "Aunt" come out just as he let it fly - and promptly put my DH in the corner.

:rotfl:

We had Momma Sue during our last trip (November 2007) and she was fantastic! It was an adults only trip and we had a blast with Momma Sue. She gave us "homework"! And yes, made us eat our veggies before we could have dessert. :rotfl2:

Here's a pic of Momma Sue saying good-bye as we were leaving:

We love Prime Time! Here our some pics from our spring break trip during Easter week.
These boys were definitely looking for trouble!

Two of them got in really big trouble!

Tabitha was our waitress and we loved her!

It is just the most fun place... we can't wait to go back!!

I don't do vegetables, so I hid mine under my napkin. My aunt (who is more like my giggle-twin) promptly told on me and got me in trouble with our funny server. In revenge, I told on both her and DS when they had their elbows on the table, and they were sent to stand in a corner. Then we somehow got in a tattle war with the table next to us, when one of them didn't eat his vegetables. At dessert time, their server brought his green beans back to him with whipped cream on top, and tolld him that was his dessert.

At one point, we even heard our Auntie across the room telling some newcomers that if they didn't behave she was going to send them to "the problem table", and pointed to us! It was such a fun time. Definitely our unanimous ADR choice for next trip!

Sometimes you get a server that is super into the acting and sometimes you just get a regular server..but the atmosphere is awesome and the food is very good

The interaction with your "Aunt / Mother / Cousin" is a riot. If you don't have a sense of humor about being forced to eat your veggies, then this may not be the place for you. But if you are looking for a meal that will remind you of family dinners when you were a kid, this is the place. Have fun!

We love eating here, it’s really fun if you get the right waitress, our group had 3 families, my husband and I took two of our grandsons one from each of our daughters at our table, we let their parents sit at a table next to our table, with their husbands and granddaughter, after being told to keep our elbows off the table, also being forced to eat our veggies, my grandson who was about 7 years old at the time, looked up at me and said “grandma lets not eat here again they treat us like crap.”
decor is so 50's just like I remember when I was a little girl, I have to say my husband and I enjoyed it the most as our kids got to see what it was like for us as children LOL

I can't wait to bring my grandson back there to eat again this coming November, as he will be 11 years old this year, I think he will understand it and will not be so up set with the waitress.

I think we have been lectured on something, in a good joking way, every time that we have eaten there, it's a fun flashback diner with "real food" veges and all, and believe me you should eat all your veggies if you even want to think about ordering dessert.:rotfl:

This was the first restaurant I thought about when we determined we could go this year.

Our waitress was wonderful when we went two years ago. Introduced herself as our sister. Keep trying to figure out what DMIL had attached to her ear, it was the cellphone.

She even started yelling, "Mom, sister's not helping clean the table!" The people at the next table kept looking at her strangely. I guess their's wasn't so interactive. Can't wait to go back in June!

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but we just got back from WDW yesterday, and I was not that impressed with Prime Time... It was our first time eating there and I was very excited to be eating there... First off we had problems with opur ADR.. Although I had one when we checked in, 30 minutes later we realized something was up, so I went and checked... Well, it seemed the young man at the check in counter had put our family of 4 on the "waitlist"... Fortunately I got help from someone and we were seated within 10 minutes... Then we waited and waited and waited for our server Jennifer to finally come an take our drink order... That was TOO long in my book, especially with 2 young children.. She was too wrapped up in trying to impress the large party of 8 that was next to us, since it seemed that the manager knew them, so I'm sure she wanted to make a good impression.. Anyway, the meal was so-so, not even close to the delicious comments I've read about.. I was dying to try the chicken, but it was just like the kind you find in the freezer section at Publix, so I wouldn't recommend that... Our family had very lilttle interaction with Jennifer, which my husband was thankful for, since he really isn't into that stuff, but my kids were actually bored after awhile because Jennifer never interacted with them, like I had told them she might... She did make me eat my "greens" which was ok, but I would have like to see her act more with the kids.. The large family she was trying to impress got a lot of attention, so I guess it was just our luck we were sitting next to them... I wouldn't say this place is bad, but we will think twice before going back.. We had a lot more fun at our other character meals last week....
