We are planning a trip to DL and were planning on doing 6 nights/5 days at DLH(1 bedroom family suite) in a few months. The 1st day we get in at 730AM to LAX so we were planning on doing a pool day/renting a cabana etc.

Just a little info it is 4 of us 2 adults/14 & 5 yr old. We were planning 1 day at the beach either before or after Disneyland. Our son wants to go look at Staple Center & Anaheim A's stadiums.... as much as he can 'look' We are from Denver and I am figuring it is like here where he will pretty much be able to get a pic outside. I went to Disneyland a lot as a kid till I was about 6 and we moved from Southern CA. I haven't been since the 50th Anniversary in 2005. This will be both the kids 1st time.

I have been told by a few people that 5 days Disneyland is obsessive. Should I be cutting it down to 3-4 days?

Definitely not! We've been for 12 days before and it doesn't really get old - there is so much to see and do and hit up your favorites again. I would say 6 days is great, enough for you to take it all in and relax.

You could plan a cabana day in the middle. The Disneyland Hotel pool is pretty awesome with the monorail slide.

Thanks!!! I really dont want to rush. I just want a nice relaxing vacation. Yea we might rope drop but TBH I dont want to depend on it. If we decide to sleep in or take a mid day nap that goes long -- I don't want to be in panic.

5 days is fine if you're going to take it easy - so some leisurely table service dining. Choose at least 2 days where you don't do Early entry/rope drop and sleep in. Watch some of the shows.

Maybe even do a "no genie+" day where you don't buy it and then only ride rides that don't have LLs. My wife and I just did a day with our young kids where we agreed in advance we wouldn't go on any rides with a height restriction and had a blast because we did things we don't usually do like the Mark Twain, Casey Jr and Mickey wheel and really enjoyed it.

If you go into every day planning on getting as many Etickets as possible and fishing for LLs, then 5 days is too many. But if you take your time and pace yourself and explore, it'll be fantastic.

I love this! I just want to relax and enjoy it. My husband and me are planning a couple dinners just us also and I just want to really not be rushing this trip.

HI.

I just added an extra night to my August trip. 7 nights. 6 full days in the parks plus the day I arrive andthe day I leave as 2 partial days..8 days! This is my welcome back to DL since before the pandemic!

Maybe I am obesessive...but I live on the East Coast and the almost 6 hour flight into LAX made me like I am adding an extra night!

We stayed 8 nights in April and are heading back for 8 nights in August staying at VGC as we are DVC. We do EE rope drop most days and only bought Genie Plus on the last day, as we had to check out and had a full day in the park before our red eye flight home. Our MK’s are blocked on Sat so that’s an automatic pool day. We do the popular rides early, then go back to the pool or room for a nap and go back to the parks at or after dinnertime. If any line is too long we don’t bother waiting and go on it another day or time. We enjoy the parks with that amount of time and never feel we have to do it all in a day.

Genie+ is the one that really I am going back and forth on. I am pretty sure I want the photopass but then also feel like I am not really 'understanding' Genie+

We just got back from 5 days in the parks. 2 Adults. I'd never been to Disneyland before and wanted to do all the rides that are different from WDW. We didn't get Genie+ and did rope drop each day (we're from the east coast so it wasn't early for us). We were able to ride everything we wanted do and even did a number of favourites several time. We went back to our room each day for a break.

It was a wonderful relaxed pace holiday.

6 nights/ 5 days is perfect, and DLH is wonderful. You'll have plenty of time to do everything you want, but you won't need to rush. Anything other than 5 days feels weird to me lol. The only time I've gone for less is when I lived in LA and just went whenever I wanted.

You can add Genie+ while you're there. When we went last year we only added it for 3 of our days, because I didn't think we needed it on the other 2. But of course if you want photopass every day you could do it for all 5 days.

Have a great trip!

This totally depends on you. For some it's too much, for others it's not enough.

I did 5 days a couple of years ago. It was a solo trip and during day 4 I thought I had seen and done everything I wanted to do. It gives you time to take it very slow. I did a Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour on day 5, and that was a nice break. The more time you have, the more options to do special things like that.

Take a look at my signature. Every since one of the Disneyland trips have been 6 nights with 5 day parkhoppers so no, in my opinion it is not too much! :D

I pretty much peak at 3 days before we get our fill of the parks. 2 days at DL, 1 day at DCA (with some park hopping as necessary) is our standard.
However, we pretty much do rope drop to near closing (with a break in the afternoon if needed).

I would like to do a longer trip one day (maybe 5 days) and just go slower and enjoy the parks, but it hard to do with the hotel costs, and most importantly the crowds that can be overwhelming at times.

Plus, if I am going to California, I still want to do other stuff like someone above mentioned, and going to Knotts, or any of the studio tours, universal, beaches, etc. seem to win out over staying an extra day at DL. We also have friends that are in Los Angeles county, so we tend to spend at least a couple days there.

So I wouldn't say 5 days is obsessive, just more than our family is willing to spend at DL given what else is available.
