Is 5 days enough for you?

The hubby and I are taking a "very late honeymoon" trip to Disneyworld in May (not the holiday weekend, don't worry). We were planning to do 5 days at Disney, and 1 day at one of Universal's parks. We don't have kids yet, so there's no restrictions in that area.

I was thinking 1 day for each park, and then 1 extra day for "leftovers" would be enough. But my husband thinks we should just do 6 days at the park, and skip Universal.

WWYD?

5 days to me is not enough.. I've been many many times now, & I couldn't imagine under 7 nights...Ideal is 9 nights, but we're looking forward to our 2nd 11 niter in August...

If it were me. I'd push for the 6th day at WDW. It'll save you $$ in the long run, and you also won't get everything done in 1 day @ U.S. either...When you get rushed you don't enjoy as much.

6 Days you'll be able to set your perfect pace. especially w/ out kids...As you get older, you'll notice that you'll need more time.Congrats on the Wedding, & have a great time.:thumbsup2

It's usually way more than I get (tend to take many 2/3 nights). We have a 5 night split stay next week and I really wish it was 6. IMO I think it's enough time, but more is always better.

I'd skip US, but I'm not a thrill ride or US person.

I agree and would do the 6 days at Disney. Save Universal for future anniversary trip.

Is it enough to do everything? No. Is it enough for me? Yes. If you've been as often as I have, you don't necessarily need to do everything in one trip.

If you are a big Harry Potter fan, then US is an absolute must.

Before kids, 4 days with hopper was my touring style (1 MK; 1 EPCOT then hop over to MK; 1 am AK/pm THS; 1 Waterpark+Quest) With kids, 5-6 days without hopper plus 2 to relax/waterparks. 5 days should be enough especially if you have plan for each day.

If you're a HP fan, don't forget to get the park to park ticket for Universal. You will need it for Hogwarts Express, the line to upgrade can get long.

5 days is more than enough for my family, but then again we don't like AK (yes, I know... the horror!) and we can do Epcot in one day. We also aren't interested in doing DQ or the waterparks. I would do 4 days in the parks and 2 days in Universal. But spend a night at a US deluxe resort so you can get Express Pass.

Five days is plenty! In fact I'm OK with 3 or 4 days depending on what else we have planned. We have to visit MK and AK and the rest is negotiable.

However we also have to visit Universal for a few days. That's not negotiable.

Depends if you want to go back soon .. I have been to Disney World many times in my life but never for more than 4-5 days because I know I'll be back.

My wife and I went to Disney for 5 days .. and then a few years later went back to Orlando just for Universal (Harry Potter mainly) .. but still had to sneak over to Downtown Disney to get our fix.

I went for a 3 day trip (2 park days) in October and going back in August for another short trip. (mainly due to having a toddler).
(but I have the advantage of being only an 8 hour drive away)

I guess I would rather go on a lot of little trips .. then one big one.

We can do 6 days...but by day 6, we are done...the crowds are starting to get to us (I'll say it...by then all of you are starting to get to me!)...the transportation hassle is starting to get to us...the food options are starting to get to us...the whole WDW facade starts to show its cracks and peels and you start to spot their business routines. If we stayed longer, we would probably come to resent the place. As is, by going 5 or 6 days, we leave before the magic is spoiled and don't come back fro 2-3 years until we are reinvigorated and ready to do it all again. We do love going...but love Disneyland more.

5 days would be plenty to ready enjoy the parks. That said...it's pennies to add Day 6 to the WDW tickets compared to $80(?) each to go to Universal. You can also schedule a day do the water parks, fishing, golf, etc. around the resort.

Now...if you are adrenaline and coaster junkies, you will want to hit Universal Islands of Adventure. WDW thrill rides are all relatively tame and family friendly, IOA has real coasters.

I feel like five days is not enough to see everything, but it may be enough to wear out our family. I'd love to have more time to take a lot of breaks.

Thanks for all the tips... just keep in mind that we are from New Hampshire, and not rich, so "save it for another trip" isn't exactly practical for us...l

I understand where you're coming from. I'm not rich, either and would never drive to Disney so I have to budget for air fare. I'm still planning a shorter trip next fall to do 2 days at HP world. I know that 1 day is not enough as I am a HP fanatic. We are also squeezing in a day for MNSSHP. That trip will be 1/3 of what our trip this December will cost.

I honestly tried so hard to fit in HP world for this year and could not see how to do it justice. I do have DD5 to consider, though. We have 5 day park tickets and tickets to MVMCP this year and will be in WDW Monday-Sunday. I save a little bit of cash every week to pay for this. It can be done. Don't give up hope! :)

We went on our honeymoon in April and spent 8 days at Disney. We considered going to Universal one day, but after looking at the prices we nixed it. As someone else mentioned, to get into both parks it's about $300, plus food and merchandise if you buy anything. Then you have to pay to use their fastpass (not sure what they call it) and transportation over there. Depending on when your honeymoon is, you could maybe do everything you want to at Disney in 5 days if there are low crowds. Also, I think you could maybe do that extra day in the parks your first day, depending on the flight situation and whether you have to connect, etc. Maybe just don't make an ADR that first day?

We do 4 park days with our military tickets with no problem so I think 1 park per day is fine. We also go about every 18 months so if we miss something it's not the end of the world.

From a cost perspective it is always a better deal just to add a day or two to your WDW stay.

In the past we have added a few days to our trip to do Universal but I think you need 2-3 days there to fully enjoy it.

If I did just Disney or just Universal, I could do it in 5, but I like to spend 2-3 days at Universal so I go down for 9 days.

I have only been to Universal twice, and that was both one day visits during our Disney vacation. We are doing one day this time for Uni on our trip this year, and it is a must. Can you see all at Uni in one day, no, but you can I think see most of what you are very interested in if you do it right. We're going to see the new things that have been added since our visit to Uni years ago.

So I say if there are plenty of things you'd love to see at Uni, then yes, do 5 park day at Disney and 1 at Uni. You'll have plenty of time at Disney to get it all in if scheduled right plus get the highlights of Uni!

We usually go for five days...that is the ideal trip for us - but we stick to WDW and don't try to fit in other attractions like Universal or Sea World.

Is this EITHER of your first trips? Or has it been a LONG time between trips? If so...I'd say 5 days is not enough. 6 is better (2 at MK, 2 at Epcot, 1 at DHS, 1 at AK). And if you've got hoppers, maybe use the 2nd half of your AK day (since that park closes early) to check out more of DHS at night (since your first night there is likely going to Fantasmic).

If it's NOT either of your first trips, or if you're both regular visitors, 5 is probably enough (2 at MK, 1 at Epcot, 1 at DHS, 1 at AK). You can hit the highlights in that amount of time, IMHO. It doesn't leave a ton of time for down time, or relaxing, though.

One day at Universal is also tough, honestly, if you're doing both parks, as a non Universal resort guest. I think I'd table that visit until "next time" ('cause you know there has to be a next time), but that's just me. And don't get me wrong...I love those 2 parks, too!

5 days should be good...we only did 4 from what I can remember, and that was just before AK opened up...and IOA. We did all the Disney parks, plus US and the Halloween Night thing at US. With no kids you will be able to move and get through a lot faster.

Have fun on your Disneymoon!!!

This will be our first trip (Sept-Oct) but we have a 6 day park hopping pass.
We plan to spend the majority of the days (For 4 days) at one park and maybe hop over
to another park in the afternoons. The last two days are split between 2 parks each!

Like others have said, would do 6 days and leave Universal for another dedicated trip, or at least one where you could devote a couple more days to it. The two connected parks alone probably need 2-3 days to hit most of what you'd want to do, and a single day ticket is just too much $ IMO for what you will (and will not) be able to accomplish there. So much cheaper to just add the next day at WDW, and you have a lot more time overall to spread out and play with your touring plans around Disney.
