Is 4 days long enough to enjoy the fort?

We are doing a split stay and moving off property when our older son arrives so we will be onsite Tuesday-Friday. Is this enough time to go to parks a bit and enjoy the fort or would be better off just doing another resort? We would be in a cabin. We will be at Disney a total of 8 days but only on property for 4. We plan to do about 5 park days spread out over the 8 days. Thanks!

Well it's a very subjective question. Many folks at the Fort will say it's enough time at the parks but not enough time at the Fort.

For us, there is no way it would be enough time for either. Given that there are 4 parks, that's a park a day, which can be tough (depending on how you do the parks). We also like time in between to relax at the Fort and the pool (or other things). If you are not a "Full Day" park person (or even something close to that) then you could be okay. That said, are you planning on coming back sometime (soon)? Even if you don't get to do everything you want this trip (and with 4 days that could be tough for most folks), you can save some for future trips.

We are going to WDW again in June (or at least it's booked) but will be staying at AoA this time. DW wants to try something new. Also our park trips and ADRs we are also trying to do something new (for us) so that we can get new experiences... We know we will be down again at some point too, so our 1 week stay is good for us (plus we are trying to maximize the AP we got in August 2016)

My average trip lengths are 9-10 days. This typically allows a park a day, with an extra day at MK. Then a day at DS, thus leaving me about 3 days to sit and relax enjoying the Fort.

4 days would be tough but not impossible. Your park time would need to be trimmed though.

Our whole trip will be 8 days so the park days will be spread out over that. We are not planning to get all the park time in during the four days at the fort.

It's probably enough time to get a bit of both in especially since you will have another 4 days to work more park time in. Don't fret though, because you can always schedule a return trip to the Fort. :)

^^^^^ This. ^^^^^^^

In my opinion, 4 days would be a nice time to spend at the Fort (if you've never been there) without going to any parks. We need at least 5 days just for the parks.

We go for a week or so every two or three months, so have a good idea of what we want to do each trip. If you plan on going to the parks every day that you are at the Fort, you may not enjoy it as much as you otherwise would. At the very least, I would set aside at least one park-free day while you are there to explore what the Fort has to offer.

I am in the same camp as Tiggerdad for me any trip less than 10 days is a waste of time. Before we started to bring our furry kids I planned on 3 days for each MK and EPCOT and 2 days each for DHS and AK Plus to trips to Disney Springs. Non touring days are spent chilling at the site or touring the loops inside the Fort With the older 2 dogs time for 3 to 4 good walks each day was more than enough to keep them happy With the 2 Savages I mean puppies 2 to 3 hours at the dog park twice a day will most likely be a good guess. So park timeis going to be cut back dramatically

I say, go for it.
I agree now that you mentioned you have a total of 8 days for Disney. 4 days at the Fort is good time to explore, loop, feed squirrels, ride some horses, feed squirrels again...

In the past before we started rving with our pets, we used to stay on property and split stays at different resorts sometimes, or even split some stays on property and off. For us it was fun. Some people looked at us like we were nuts, we enjoyed doing it. So I would do it just to get a feel for FW and you can always do longer next time.
