My DW is nagging me to book up for next Christmas. We're thinking of going from 8th Dec for 3 weeks so we can spend Christmas day there. We've been twice before for 2 weeks and although reluctant to come home, we felt that we had done and seen what we went out there to do. What we are figuring is that we can do the first 2 weeks when hopefully it will be fairly quiet and then for the last week over Christmas, chill out a bit and just go with the flow and soak up the festive atmosphere. Anyone else in the same boat as me or has done similar dates? Thanks Miffy for your previous help, just want a few other comments before I book.

definately not! but that's from someone who'd consider 6 months in Polynesian Concierge a short trip, only kidding, I think 3 weeks is a perfect amount of time, we've been 4 times for two weeks each time and still haven't found the time to make it to Universal. with three weeks you'd be so much more relaxed and could even spend whole days by the pool or water parks.

We have done 3 week trips and it's definitely not too long, just the opposite I think it's the ideal amount of time to go for.

The only thing I would say from personal experience having been so many times, I wouldn't stay in Orlando for the whole of the 3 weeks and would spend at least 5 days or so probably somewhere on the coast.
Possibly not everyone's idea of the way to do it but for us 3 weeks in Orlando would be too long these days.

I'd love to be able to get the time off work to go for 3 weeks!!

I think you'll enjoy it more as you can take things at a slightly slower pace, might make coming home even harder though!!

3 weeks will be perfect especially at a busy time around Xmas. You will be able to get everything done without panicking.

3 weeks too much? Absoloutly not. I think its perfect. We would love to go away for three weeks, but dh has 25 days holiday and doesnt want to use three weeks up in one time

Go for it book 3 weeks. There is so much to see and do in Florida even three weeks for us wont be enough.

I dont know about how busy parks are. I would imagine it would be busy from 18th upwards.

We are going in December 08 or 09 for xmas we also want to be there for our daughters birthday so we will be leaving on the 17th Dec. We will be going for 17 nights in total.

Another vote for going for 3 weeks! We always go for three weeks, usually September/October. This year we stayed 2 weeks at SSR (which was our first trip home!) and 1 week at Portofino Bay Hotel. Going for 3 weeks gives you the chance to take things at a leisurely pace and not have to rush around the parks. Also a chance to go to Universal / Sea World / Busch Gardens / Shopping and of course plenty of time around the pool!! Having said all that, our next trip in January is for 2 weeks. We don't normally go back again so quickly, however we had some DVC points to use and got a really good fly/drive deal with TCD (£109 each for the flights!!)

However long your next trip, you will always enjoy it!! :)

Even in December?

In the first two weeks there will definately be days when its warm enough to go to the waterparks. Ive been to the waterparks early December and gotten very burnt!

I would go for three weeks, you will be able to do things other than Disney like Seaworld, Universal etc. Plus it means you will be able to take your time and not get burnt out by rushing around. :goodvibes

Another :thumbsup2 for 3 weeks... It really takes the pressure off and you dont have to hit the ground running....Its amazing how much more relaxed and content you feel..Were going for 3 in june/july 07..staying at ASmu..
Price difference from 2 weeks for a family of 4 was under £300 in total including accomm and park tickets to cover the entire stay..If you can get the time off I would definately recommend it.... ;)

It's a British thing... I think that British tourists can always be spotted abroad - they are the ones that are various shades of red... :rotfl2:

COMPLETELY agree - you can have a much more relaxed time and get out and see more of florida. Definitely go and do Kennedy (if you haven't already) and maybe see some other bits of Florida too (like the Gulf Coast and the Everglades)

We went for three weeks in 2004 and 2005. It is so much more relaxing, as you can have 'rest' days in between your park days, and also do shopping, water parks, chilling by the pool days etc etc.... :thumbsup2

I think 3 weeks would be great. No rushing from one ride to another. You can have a lie in. You can have none theme park days. You can go to all the little places you couldn't fit into 2 weeks. Plus near Christmas will be very busy so queues will be long.

Three weeks in Florida - not too long.
Three weeks at Disney - yes, too long for me, unless you plan on doing other things.

In summer it's great because you can spend time beside the pool, in winter this may well not be possible as it might well be far too cold.

Thanks for all your help. You've made my mind up and it's all booked, 3 weeks next Christmas.
Can't wait!!

ooohh that sounds fantastic....
It didnt take much persuading though did it ?
hope you have a fab time.
Elaine :thumbsup2

we're going for 3 weeks in a fortnights time (mixed emotions about leaving everyone for christmas) but i'm sure once i'm there we will be fine.
This will be our fourth trip to disney (but first over Christmas)
The very first time we went to disney we went for a fortnight. The journey and time difference took it's toll on the children and because of this i suppose we only had 10 good days when the children coped from being in the parks from morning till night. The other times we've been we've always gone for 3 weeks. This gives you plenty of time to recover from a long flight and time to relax around the pool or go downto the coast for a few days. you've deffiatley made the right choice.

Good on you Nick... :thumbsup2 If your staying on site definately invest in the Refillable mugs..over three weeks you save an absolute fortune... ;)

We had them free the last time we stayed...Virgin gave us vouchers for them so we're hoping they still do that, if not, we'll still definately buy some.

Cheers

I'm sure you'll find 3 weeks isn't enough - we go for 3 weeks on the 9th December so we're on countdown now :cheer2: :cheer2:
