Is 2 weeks too long?

I can't decide if this is too long. We have stayed 8 nights and I loved every minute of it. But 2 weeks with 2 kids (4 and 7) in a hotel room? I can't decide if I might kill them or not????? :sad2: Any thoughts? And I can't afford a 1 bdroom, so not that. But any others?

Rent a condo or house offsite, perhaps? I couldn't do two weeks in any hotel room, personally, much less with two kids in tow!

My 2.25 year old was READY to go home after a week at Disney. But your kids are older, and there is certainly no shortage of things to do in Orlando!

Have you thought of changing resorts mid vacation maybe rent points at one of the DVC resorts. May save some $ and will change the flow of the vacation.

Maybe look into the Mears trans to Seaworld one day. The tickets aren't that expensive. Take a day or two and just relax by the pool. Maybe do a dinner at one of the resorts. If you and spouse are going why not take one night off and go to one of the dinner shows (Luau) or Alberts for dinner without the kids. I will be using the kids club at WL so DH and I can go to the Luau. With my luck my DS will love it there and it will cost me a fortune so he can go there instead of the parks.

Just a few thoughts. 2 weeks is a long time in one room. but even a change to another moderate may make it seem like another vacation. :teeth:

DS13 & I are going for 2wks in August! Starting at Pop Century for 5nights, then Wilderness Lodge for 3nights, ending at Beach Club Villas last 6nights. Beginning vacation will be parks in the mornings, PS lunches, pools in the afternoon, nights at Downtown Disney/mini-golf/etc
In the middle of our vacation we're meeting a DISer and his family/friends for dinner (and campfire) at Trails End
2nd wk of vacation will be pools in the early part of the day, PS lunches, and parks at night - have plans to meet up w/another DISer for Illuminations Cruise
I have 4 early mornings planned (1 at ea park for major rides) , 2 late afternoons (when switching from early morn to late nights) and 8nights (mostly when we're staying at the Boardwalk area)

Look at this way. It'll give you more time to relax in between theme parks.

I've just changed my holiday to 15 nights instead of 13. We're doing 3 nights in New York and then flying to Orlando for 12 nights and we have 3 kids including a baby and coming all the way from Ireland! The reason I changed from 10 nights at Disney to 12 is that I felt there wasn't enough 'relaxation' and 'chilling out' time allocated, you know? So this way we're gonna spend more time just loitering at the resort, swimming, sleeping etc.!! And possibly a bit of casual shopping and just generally taking it easy. Or else just have shorter days at the theme parks, especially as we're not accustomed to the heat. Knowing that we won't be in a mad panic trying to get out early every day makes me feel better!

Good luck in your decision - if it were me, I'd go for the extended stay. -)

We'll be there for 15 nights in July with three kids! I think it gives you more "down" time so you won't be as stressed.

Thanks for all the responses. Now we are thinking of going to the beach for part of the trip. Decisions, decisions!

We did 2 weeks in '03 and LOVED it! The first week was the week before Christmas, before the crowds showed up and it was wonderful...we got a lot done that week. The second week (Christmas) we were able to go at a slower pace, in spite of the crowds. We also did more outside the WDW parks because we had more time.

In April, we are going for 12 days...since we drive, DH insists on a longer vacation to make it "worth" the drive. We are staying offsite in a condo--more space, better price, ability to eat some meals in and do laundry as needed--we much prefer this to a cramped hotel room. Good luck with whatever you decide! :flower:

I have a now 5 & 7 yr. old they are Disney Vets. already.
I know this sounds ridiculous but we always find 7, (although thats all we can do this time) days too little and 14 days too much. Our perfect time has been when we go for 10 days. It gives us days off to swim, hang out at resort, etc. Time to get to Seaworld (which we always find more relaxing, and do one day at Universal, and time at all the Disney parks.
Although 10 days straight parks with no resting time to our family is not doable. We like half days park MK and epcot (and then do multiple days if possible), half day pool, then dinner. For AK and MGM will do the whole day at once.
I would say save some days for the beach.

I would suggest that you consider the Ft Wilderness cabins, true, a little more expensive, but SOOOOO much to do at the campground on your off days, a kitchen (that they clean!) to save on meal expenses, and two rooms! We take our motorhome, but my parents stay in the cabins and just love them...

We did 2 weeks at POR when it was Dixie Landings. DH, me, DD's were 3 and 9 months. I love Disney to death, but it was too much. If my kids were older at the time, it might have been better. DH had an ear infection the last two days and begged to go home. We left 4 days early. :badpc:

My advice is get out of the World a little, break up the trip. Try and schedule some alone time. Maybe take the kids to one of the kids clubs for the night and have a quiet dinner. What darkened our trip was the constant togetherness. If you need an escape, lock the bathroom door and take a bubble bath. Sleep in take your time seeing the world.

10 days is the perfect amount.

we did three times in a hotel room with 3 kids and loved it.
last time we stayed in a villa for 3 weeks .. :cheer2:
going back in april for 3 weeks wish it were longer.
couldnt go out there for anything less than 3 weeks now..

We have stayed 9 nights and we were fine. We were together a total of 2 weeks straight 24/7 for that trip as we visited some relatives prior to getting to Disney.

I do know that by the time we got back I was ready for the kids to go back to school and hubby to go back to work. I needed the ME time. But while at Disney we did have a good time and I didn't want to choke them all ;)

we did 2 weeks at the Holiday Inn Family Suites. Two bedrooms and a kitchenette....great grounds (zero depth pool, play area, sandbox, food court, kids eat free) www.hifamilysuites.com It was great! Unfortunately, we were there for 9/11 and a tropical depression with two kids ages 5 DB and 2.5 DD and it was still great. Having the room to spread out helped a ton. They have free transportation to WDW. Hope this helps.

I would imagine 2 weeks is great. Most international visitors usually stay at least 2 weeks if not 3 weeks! My friends have been every year for 14 years and do anything between 2 and 4 weeks and still haven't done absolutely everything!

I've only got time for 10 nights this year, but in 2007 I am doing 3 weeks.

We almost always go for 2 weeks and we stay in a Disney hotel & have 3 kids and a baby. We are from California and really feel like we get a nice vacation staying 2 weeks. I love not having to rush and having time to relax by the pool, etc. Even staying for 2 weeks, I sometimes feel we don't get to see & do everything that we wanted to. 2 weeks "Disney time" feels like a week "real life" time to me! I say go & a hotel would be fine!
