i have always read that the first part of december the crowds are really low but after reading the list of whose going in december there are over 170 families from the board that will be there the first week of dec...does anyone know from past experience...last year we planned a trip in mid october because i had always read that it was slow then and it was extremely crowded at all of the parks the entire week we were there--so in anyones past experience how is the first week of dec. because now im getting a little scared...thanks in advance:)

We are booked from Nov 28-Dec 4th and I hope that it is light. However, last October, I was there too. And I went from the 1-12 and the first week was great and the last weekend was a nut house. In all fairness...the Fairytale Package was out, and they opened Mickey's Philharmagic and Mission Space (for some reason I think there was a third attraction..but maybe not. So, I am sure there were a lot of people there becuase of all that.

I have always heard the crowds were light in December and I hope that is true too. I guess we will find out!

I've gone the past 6 years the first or second week of December and it usually isn't bad. Weekends tend to be more crowded, probably locals coming in to see the Christmas decorations.

We too were in WDW last Oct. The first 5 or 6 days it was wonderful. We had the place to ourselves, at least it felt like it and then later in our trip the press arrived and it turned into a zoo! This was the first trip we said we were glad we were outta there. LOL

Yes, Onecoolmama there was a third thing that opened it was Wishes.

So now we too are heading to WDW on Dec 2 and over the years I read and heard this was a great time to go and when I saw the list I almost cried! All I'm hoping for now is that it is only DISers that know this secret and that we'll be the only families there.

I still think the crowds will be lighter then in mid summer, so that's a good thing. Plus with cooler temps it won't be bad sticking it out for the day. I also keep in mind that if it is a zoo and we don't get to see everything it's no biggie since we go often enough that we don't HAVE to see everything.

We went in Dec 16-23, 2003. From the 16-19 it was wonderful but as it grew closer to christmas the crowds got worse. On the first couple of days we walked right onto almost every ride we wanted to ride. It was awesome. We rode TOT at MGM three times in like an hour. On the 16th we had ressies at CRT for breakfast at 940am and then walked right up to most rides in the MK. I wouldn't be worried at all. I will say we didnt' pack very well last year. It was much colder then we thought it was going to be. My sister and I ended up buying sweatshirts the first day we were there. So be prepared when packing.

 How could I forget Wishes! Dh and I sat out for 3 hours on the debute and I was at the Contempo all week and at midnight you could hear and watch them practicing them! EVERY night.
