DH and myself will be at DW the end of August and will have 1 free day. We were thinging of doing Universal ( both parks), but is 1 day enough? We have never been to Universal before and this will probally be the last vacation with just the 2 of us. Usually we can see everything we want at the DW parks in about a half a day.

1 day was enough for us on our first visit to Universal. The best thing to do, in my opinion, is take a look at the parks online and see which rides/attractions interest you and guage it that way. Last time I went, we did IoA first, and then US - since US didn't have as many "Rides" that we wanted to go on...but then again, we're Roller Coaster junkies :)

1 day is not enough to do all of the rides and attractions. You can do the highlights. Make sure you get to the parks well before the scheduled opening to take advantage of the low morning crowds.

One day would be hard to fully experience both USF and IOA. You could pick just one park and do quite a lot in a day, if not it all.
It also depends on how late in August you will be visiting. If it is Labor Day weekend (Aug 29-31) when you are planning to hit both parks in one day, forget about it!

You could probably do a park & a half in one day. Plus allow time to explore CityWalk.

Agreed...too much to do and see to allow for exploration of both parks on a summer weekend day.
