Just went to pick up some new lawn chairs and citronella candles for our Labor Day Weekend cook-out. All the lawn chairs, candles, etc are gone! They were taken away to make way for guess what - THE CHRISTMAS STUFF!!! Did I mention that it is 98 degrees here today?

I was in a card store in mid-July and they had the Hallmark Christmas ornaments out!!!!!!!!!

And they wonder why old people get alzheimer's!!! We never know what time of year it REALLY is!!!

I wouldn't have minded so much about them putting out the silly Christmas stuff in the middle of the blazing summer - if they hadn't taken away the stuff I actually need this time of year!

Target put my purchases in a CHRISTMAS bag yesterday. I questioned it and they claimed it was last years:smooth: !
I felt silly carrying that bag with a snowflake on it in 103 degrees weather. No summer items available there either.

Don't forget that department stores are usually one season a head of the rest of the world. I have worked in retail and it is weird putting out Christmas/halloween stuff while wearing shorts (esp. when you live in Canada!)

Retail IS like the twilight zone. We are now ordering Spring. And Hallmark always premiers their ornaments in July.

In case you hadn't noticed, the summer clothes are ALL on sale...

And I've completely missed the 75% off summer stuff like chairs and coolers...it's ALL GONE!!! Replaced with back-to-school!

Its begning to look a lot like xmas...everywhere you go!
The oddest sight to see is the melting christmas tree...its 92º!

Today was the first full day of school. We had already been school supply shopping, but went again tonight to get special requests. Target's school supply area was almost empty and at least half of what was left was on clearance. We were directed to the office supply area and found some expensive alternatives. Office Max wasn't much better yesterday.

Have you ever tried to buy a swimsuit in July or August in Michigan? But I can buy a winter coat!!!!

I noticed some Christmas things being set out at our local Wal-Mart tonight so we decided to hunt for the Halloween things but there was nothing! So now we get Christmas stuff before the Halloween stuff?

Read "Nickel and Dimed" by Barbara Erhenreich. Then you'll be really irritated at Wal-Mart!

I work at Sports Authority, and people get SO irritated at us that we have no beach chairs, pools, goggles, or bathing suits yet.

On the other hand, it IS back to school, time for the stuff to go. People have actually come in asking for long johns and coats for skiing, as well as ice skates. Go figure.

I went to my local Disney store, its a small one, to buy a gift for my nephews 2nd birthday and all they had was Halloween costumes, clothes and plush. all the cute little toys were gone from the store. If you were looking for girls, it was okay, but boy gifts, there were none.

The thing that I don't understand is....why is this such a surprise to some people? It seems to me it's ALWAYS been this way. Like it seems I've known for YEARS that if you want a bathing suit...you'd better get to the stores BEFORE the 4th of July.

I'm not saying I LIKE it....but what can you do??

know no season and I know my UPS guy very well.

Most of the stores in our area sell out of the seasonal stuff very early. Lawn chairs, patio sets, etc. go very fast at our Wal Mart. There is actually nothing left by mid-summer, so the seasonal stuff changes over very quickly. Not that I like having Xmas stuff out now, but the major seasonal displays need to stay filled, I would think.

I get caught on this every year. In our area summer doesn't really start until July, yet every year the summer stuff is pretty much gone by then.

However, I've noticed this year when school shopping for the boys - there are barely any long sleeve shirts and no jackets out yet. The girls departments are full of this stuff. Are they assuming girls shop ahead and boys don't (or rather - their moms- we're talking little boys here)?
