Irrational Disney fears.

I generally fear any human dressed in a "fur" costume since I can't see their eyes and that freaks me out, thinking they are probably a mass/serial/maniacal killer all rolled into one. Strangely enough, I have NEVER felt this fear in WDW. Go figure? I've run screaming from rooms where Chuck E. Cheese, Pink Panther and other characters have appeared but (to my family's great relief) never felt that on one of our vacations :)

My irrational fear is that the animatronics will get me. That they will come alive or something. It's stupid but I cannot control it. I just close my eyes around the scary ones and try to sit in the middle if possible. (yk, just in case I'm right and they come alive! LOL)

OMG, we cannot get our DD to agree to go on POTC for the very same reason! She's freaked OUT about "talking/looking/moving fake people who appear 'scary'".... (in her words...and no, she was not referencing politicians :) She is not bothered by the characters in It's A Small World, although my DH is, LOL.... Trying to get the two of these guys on rides is a feat. My DD also just informed us that there is NO WAY she will even so much as LOOK at Lotso if he's in the parks on the day we're there. She thinks he's eeeeevul. :):scared1:

Don't let your DD read the Kingdom Keepers books then. It will only fuel her fears!

 Mine is the bride in HM. I looked at her after the referb so I never ever have to again. Of course where does the Doom Buggy stop sometimes.... Yep my eyes are shut tight as soon as I hear thump thump... Thump thump... Thump thump. It is also very creepy to see my name-- Lucretia-- as the last wife of Mr Gracy out on the stone wall when you exit. :scared1:

Ok so this one isn't from Disney but when ever I go in our Hot tub I go under water and I always think that someone is going to put the lid over the top and drown me

I agree. I have never liked fully costumes characters with their faces covered. Now, I don't scream and run, now that I'm an adult, but I did as a child. I could not even enjoy fairs, festivals, etc., because I never knew when some character might come out and scare me.

I still feel very uncomfortable around them, and I think it is because they can see me but I can't see them and have no idea who they are. Like they are watching me through a peephole.

I also totally agree that WDW characters are not scary at all (to me). That is because they are not people in costumes, they are truly who they look like they are. THey have so much charm and personality that I know there is no hidden person who can see me. There are characters at other places (not Disney) that are clearly people wearing costumes, because they have all the charm of someone walking around covered with a blanket.

Yes, that's it! For me, it's the knowledge that they can see me but I can't see them. Of course, once I shared this with friends (who I ONCE trusted :) and they thought it was hilarious. So what did they do? They immediately told Chuck E. Cheese who stalked me and sat next to me the ENTIRE dinner - not talking, just looking at me. I couldn't eat! I was also on a ferry once in New England - don't ask me why CEC was there too (probably promoting a new opening of a restaurant) and the thing followed me around the boat. I swear, I could be in a room with 100 people who LOVE people dressed up in fur costumes, but the character would seek only me out. Weirdly it doesn't apply to Disney. I think Walt was onto something when he created Mickey and Co. I also have this fear of clowns, of course.

Trying to bring back this thread - my favorite of all time. I got the best laughs from these posts, my own included. My daughter and I read these in tears. Anyone new have anything to add?BUMP :lovestruc

On the boat rides (POtC, IaSW...) I feel like they should even out the weight...and when they don't, I get scared the boats are going to tip over. I'm bigger than DD so sometimes I tell her to switch seats so I can even out the boats. She thinks I'm weird.

I feel that way under all roller coasters also.

When I worked at Lakeside Amusement Park (Colorado) when I was 15, you would hear things hitting the top of the games booth that I ran. Apparently, a few bolts would drop off the roller coaster daily, and they would bounce down to the booth.
:scared1:

I'm pretty sure that's more change, etc falling out of people's pockets.

I didn't even know what mine was until it happened. We went to WDW in May 2010 and we did a ton of character greets, Mickey & Minnie, Donald and Daisy, etc etc etc. We had dinner at the Castle and met the princesses, we met the fairies.

And then on our last full day there we went to the Lilo and Stitch breakfast. Stitch is my very favorite Disney character of all time, and I insisted on this meal so I would know for sure I would get to meet Stitch.

And he came to the table and I leapt up and gave him the biggest hug ... and I could feel the person in the costume. He has a baggy costume because that's what Stitch is like, and I could very clearly "feel" the person in the suit and it freaked out out to no end. 18 months later I'm still skeeved out by it - I KNEW there was a person in the costumes but Stitch made it really obvious and it creeped me out that I was hugging some stranger.

We're having a character meal with Chip and Dale on our next trip and DH says I'm only allowed to give them a high-five, I can't touch them, lest I get freaked out again.

Soarin - I feel like I'm going to fall, and like my shoes are going to fall off.
Space/Thunder Mountain - I feel like my hands will hit the above rails and stuff.
Test Track - Get stuck in hot/cold/corossion room, or right in front of the semi truck...
Dinosaur - Getting stuck in front of the loud/scary dinosaur.

On my last trip, we got stuck on Dinosaur in pitch black just before the Dinosaur appeared. I kept freaking myself out wondering when/if it was just going to jump out at us. Much scarier when you can't predict when it's coming, haha.

It's the most irrational and ridiculous thing, but when I go to most places I'm paranoid that people taking photos are taking them of me. I'm always afraid I'm going to end up on some website mocking people for...well whatever it is that the site does. I'm tall and heavy, but apart from that unremarkable so I have no idea why I do that :rotfl: And don't get me started on the fact that I always smile when I see people taking a picture - even if they're nowhere near me.

disney is really my time away from worrying about anything because I worry about a lot:worried: One of the few things I worry about though is when i ride SM(before they got the lap bars) I would never put my arms up cause I was always paranoid I'd fly out of the log:lmao: I'm also worried that when I'm riding a roller coaster that when I'm screaming a bug will fly in my mouth.:crazy2::earseek:

I have a fear after every trip I book, that I will get called for jury duty! I have one booked for August 2012, keep your fingers crossed for me!

Snakes in bushes and gators in the Bay Lake. I've seen pics of the snakes and the injuries they've caused, so not too irrational, IMO.

Here's one I hope someone can put to rest for me. I've been fretting over bringing my DS3 on Splash Mountain. I know he's a brave little trouper and I love the ride to death, BUT! I worry about restraints, and the difference in body mass. He is JUST 40", and this is his first trip. I am going back and forth with myself over bringing him on or not. I'm afraid the lap bar (I read the put one in recently, correct me if I'm wrong) will not hold him on the plunge. I've always braced myself for the drop...but it's been almost a decade since I've done WDW and Splash mountain. Can he literally sit next to me, or are there grooves in the bench to seperate riders kinda like bucket seats? Is the lap bar one bar, or two seperate bars. I'm a single mom and there's not going to be anyone to 'swap' with, so I can go, so I hope someone can provide me with pictures or information so I can make an informed decision before wasting time on a fastpass for this one, or missing out if I'm making too much of this. :surfweb: Halp!

I actually duck my head on space mountain in fear that I'm going to hit the beams overhead. I'm just average height so I'm not sure why I think this, but I instinctively duck every time I ride it.

Outside of disney I'm so afraid that I'm going to jump off edge of cliffs when I'm by them. I'm so scared to go back to grand canyon. I fear that my boys will somehow not stop at the edge and fall off as well.

I also hate the feeling of being trapped, so anytime restraints are too tight i start feeling that panic set in.

Sounds like we all could use some medication! :rotfl:

I'm *kind of* scared of the face-character pirates. I like seeing Jack Sparrow on top of his ship during the MNSSHP parade, but the other pirates in the parade make me nervous.
Captain Barbossa came up to me and shook my hand last month, and I was just speechless! I'm sure he thought I was a blithering idiot!

While I'm not afraid of them, you can't deny that the IASW dolls look at you like you're meat.

So do the Presidents in Hall of Presidents, for that matter. Quite a few look really angry that you walked in on them and they look like they would come across the stage for you if they could.
