so has anybody seen it? I know it is pg13. dh is pushing to take the kids, who are 8 and 6. they love indiana jones and star wars and the first batman/spiderman, but I never let them see the last batman movie with heath ledger, and they haven't seen the original ironman. I can't remember my thoughts on the original iron man in fact.

so for those who have seen it, would you say it was very dark like the last batman, or more along the lines of indiana jones/star wars/original batman? anyone?

Your kids will be fine, if they like Star Wars. It's not dark at all. It's a wicked good time :goodvibes

I agree. Good flick. Kids should see the original Iron Man first. All "comic book" type violence, no blood or gore. Similar to Star Wars. Very tame language. I saw an interview with Jon Favereau (director/actor from both movies). He said he has young kids and wanted to make a movie that was kid friendly. He is true to his word.

The original Iron Man was a good movie but I distinctly remember the beginning of the movie to be violent and I also remember Robert Downey Jr rolling around on a bed with a half naked woman. I remember this because I took my sons at the time who were 5 and 13....I'm by no means a prude but was like "oh s**t!"

We did not take our boys to see the first one because we knew of those scenes from friends who had seen Iron Man before us.

Our kids have also not seen the batman movie referenced above.

We took all the kids yesterday (youngest is 7) to see Iron Man 2, and we all loved it! I did not find the theming to be dark, and there were no overtly sexual scenes. There is a scene at the beginning with a group of women dancers all wearing bikini type outfits - however, my kids see that everytime they are at a Chicago Bulls game. :rotfl: Take the kids!

Agree with everyone above! DH and I saw it last night and loved it. Some double entendres, lots of shoot 'em up but very little actual violence. Only iffy scene you can totally see coming. Later in the movie, Whiplash (Mickey Rouke is an excellent villian!!) with two security guards and you know what is going to happen. Still, you don't see what happens, just the aftermath and that is sort of in the background and not graphic.

I think DH and I will go again andf take DD, 10. Lots of fun!

If you do go see you have to stay till the end of the credits. Trust me on this...you have to.

Ok so I am just wondering what is in the movie to make it have a pg13 rating?

I agree. Out of a full theater only 6 or so of us stayed through the credits. I'm so glad we did! LOL

Honestly I think the after the credits scene are great for comic book fans. I'm not sure I'd care if I wasn't a comic fan.

That being said I HATE the Iron Man comics, I think Tony Stark is a jerk lol for many reasons if you read the books you know why..hehe..but for soem reason i love the movies. They seem to cast them brilliantly.

I like Iron Man 2 better than the first one too.

For kids I would not reccommend the graphic novel based movie The Watchmen. But most of the other comics (Marvel I haven't seen any Batman) are fairly kid friendly.

thanks all!!! we did end up going, thanks to the good reviews here. the kids loved it, as did dh and I. some of it was beyond them, but they weren't scared at all. :)

we did stay till the end because dh had read there was the scene after the credits. for me I'd say it was a bit of a let down, but he loved it.

Suggestive content and sci-fi violence.

I loved it too... you gotta know what you're looking at, though, in order to care :goodvibes

.Howard Stark in the old film was SO Walt Disney during his old tv show unveiling EPCOT! I loved it! Also loved the Richard Sherman song " Make Way For Tomorrow Today" played during the credits. It sounded so much like his Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow he wrote for Carousel of Progress.

And I love the movie as much as the first one.

Should be fine for the kids, wasn't anything worser than fantastic 4 IMO. Good stuff and family friendly. I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

DH and I liked it. I would have taken my sons to it at that age.

I loved those things, too! Definitely had a Disney feel. :goodvibes
