I know you are not allowed to bring an iron on board. should we bring our clothes already ironed or is there a place onboard to do this. What if they get wrinkled in the suitcase? Is everyone on the ship all wrinkled? :smooth:

I believe there is an iron in the laundry room onboard .... Andy

On our last Wonder cruise, as soon as we got into our rooms at 1:30, we headed to the laundry room on our deck(6). There was no one there and had 2 ironing boards available. We ironed all of our things and didn't have to worry about it for the rest of the cruise.

Later, I noticed that there were several people waiting to use the irons. I suggest doing like we did and getting it over asap. :D

I ironed all of our clothes before packing them, and then used Downey Wrinkle Releaser after unpacking them onboard. It's a little pricey, but you don't need to use a lot, and it works like magic! We went in July, and most of our clothes were linen, so I can assure you that it works beautifully. Now I keep it in the laundry closet in case I need something de-wrinkled fast.

Hi~

I used the iron's on board the Wonder on our cruise last October. I never had to wait very long, but there was one thing I want to warn you about. Apparantly, some people may have put water in the irons to use the steam feature...however, I'm not sure how long ago that was and so every once and a while, as I was ironing, it would spit some rusty water onto the clothes I was ironing. I was able to get the stains out, but it created more of a fuss than just going around wrinkled would have. :)

I will be using a tip that was mentioned on another thread about sending all our clothes to the laundry the first night aboard and have them pressed...I think they said it cost around $40, but at least I don't have to waste time ironing myself, and it's all done for the whole cruise. :)

Hope that helps.

Before I start, I want to say, I know this doesn't happen every time. I just wanted to share my experience.
I decided to take advantage of the "press only" service the first night we were on board. I hate to iron. I had one pair of DH pants, 3of DH shirts, and my DD long formal taffata skirt. Everything came back the next day for less than $10. However, when I was hanging them in the closest, I noticed a small spot on my DD skirt. Automatically, I rubbed over it with my finger, and it smeared. I took the skirt to GS and asked them about it. They said they would clean it w/o charge. Fine, I thought. I was supposed to have it back by dinner, since it was formal night. Good thing she had something else to wear. The next day I called GS, and they told me there had been a little problem removing the stain. They told me it was paint! While removing the stain they put a slit shaped hole in her skirt and the color had changed in an area the size of a golf ball. They credited our account for the laundry service, and the value of the skirt, but the fact remains, my DD never got to wear her new long skirt, before it was ruined. We still don't know where the paint came from.

My point is the "press only" service is great, as long as you're not emotionally attached to any of the items. Once they leave your hands, it's hard to say what might happen or where they'll end up.

I'm so glad I'm reading this - I've been turning the house upside down looking for my travel iron!

Good morning minnieluvzmickey.

Is everyone on the ship all wrinkled?

Nah. Most wrinkled people sail on Seabourn & Crystal cruise lines...

BD- LOL!

Now The BEST advice I have read here on this is VERY simple. All you need to do for wrinkles is two things that will work very easily.

First, a can of wrinkle releaser is handy.

Second and even neater, all you need to do is hang up the outfits in the bathroom while you shower(of course not in the shower with you :P ). The heat and steam from the shower will relax the garment and the wrinkles will drop.

Have you actually tried this? I'm curious, because I've always heard this to be true, but any time I have tried it, it didn't work (and I take long, hot showers!) Perhaps it depends on the fabric, but, in my experience, this does not work with cotton clothing. :(

The wrinkle releaser, however, worked like a charm.:D

Yes, worked great with my suit slacks, but they arn't all cotton. Cotton fabric is probably the fussiest, and why I suggested some wrinkle releaser along as well. I work for an insustrial laundry/dry cleaner, and 9/10ths of what we do to get a nice wrinkle free garment is heat/steam, very little real pressing/ironing.

Thanks for the professional insight. I've always wondered why it didn't work for me. Most of our clothing is 100% cotton, so that would explain it.

I have to say, you ARE allowed to take iron's. They only ask you NOT use them in your room.. And I'll be the first to confess, I used mine in the room. I know, I know, I could have burned the ship down  ... BUT I didn't... I know of others who used the ships irons, who ended up with brown stains on their clothing. Oh, and YES, I know it's a vacation, but I still iron..
