Irene is expected to hit South Carolina by Tuesday am.

I know this is difficult to predict, but We are flying from NY to ORlando on Tuesday morning...Since the storm is in neither area, will this effect our travel?

Any of you that dealt with travel and last years hurricanes have any opinions?

I am going to be watching this closely and if this storm looks to become problematic, I am rebooking and leaving early! :sunny:

I would just watch it carefully. I really don't think that you have much to worry about. When did you hear it was looking like SC? I thought (at least our news said) that it could hit anywhere from GA to VA. If you are lucky :guilty: , maybe many guest will get scared off & you will have the parks to yourself :teeth:

It actually looks now like it might not even make landfall and just curve back out into the Atlantic. It's forecasted to slow down quite a bit too. The current path actually has it on a better projection towards NY than SC!! I doubt it will have any effect on your travel. The plane may have to fly a slightly different course, but that would be all.

It's still too far out to tell, but right now most computer models have it curving away from land and heading north... Weather Underground Computer Models Keep your eye on it.

Personally, I don't think it will ruin your trip. Don't hold me to that, these things can always change, but I know those of us here in Florida aren't really that worried about it. Of course, you could just rebook, leave early, and enjoy more time at WDW!

Have a great trip!

AOL news had the information, with the projected path. I am going to go look at the weather channel. :sunny:

We went to WDW in September last year 9/10 - 9/18/04 and they were predicting one of the hurricanes to hit then, my mom was freaking that we should reschedule, but I'm stubborn and I pushed forward with our trip, the hurricane did not hit and as someone else said, we had the parks almost to ourselves, I mean September is a slow time anyway, but with the predicted hurricanes it was GREAT, so I'd stick with your original plan, if you get there and have problems, Disney is always great to "help" out!

So we are leaving for Maine tomorrow. DH is already wondering if he should leave word with work in case they need him  , he is a lineman. The older kids steamed up 8yo DD who thinks the hurricane is going to suck her out into the ocean...arg. :rolleyes1 Gotta love brothers! I am almost packed and figure with the way my luck has been it will rain all week, lol. Oh well the Maine mall has a disney store. :teeth:

Irene is moving further north. Your vacation will be fine :flower:

I have found (and living here in FL with the hurricanes) that the weather channel is not the best. You may be better off just going to the NOAA site. I know that most of the news stations get it from there anyway. Me personally, when a storm in predicted to hit FL, our local news stations are more on target than the weather channel. If you are concerned about the impact on FL, go to one of the FL news web sites. I use to have the link for the Olrando local channel 6 site but lost it. If you use your search engine, you will get some links to go on... but do not just go by the weather channel. Seems the local forcasts are more on the mark. I can still remember the weather channel & NOAA saying that Charlie was going to Tampa...when our local said it had turned, not "jogged" as NOAA stated towards the Lee/Charlotte county lines...and sure enough...we were hit head on...and Tampa was safe.

I wouldnt be worried about Irene affecting your travel. There is another storm brewing out in the Atlantic right now that might be a problem late next week or the next depending on where it goes though. Check out the National Hurricane Centers website for more info, I've been tracking Irene for over a week now on that site trying to find out if it would do anything to our trip when we leave tomorrow. The address is www.nhc.noaa.gov.
