ipod touch deals

I am hoping someone may know of a really nice deal on an ipod touch, it can be a 4 or 5th gen.
My dd has a birthday next week and since she has been asking for one for over a year I was thinking of finally getting her one.

I do not want to try Craigslist as I worry about if it was stolen or if it would be damaged or such.

So far I have found a 16g 4th gen on Walmart's site for $189 with starter kit. Just wondering if anyone found a better deal lately?

Buy one that is refurbished at Apple.com, click store and you'll see refurbs in the left column.Apple offers the same warranty on refurbished ipods as they do for new. We have always gone this route.

We bought 2 refurbished from apple at christmas for the kids 4th gen at 129 each. nothing wrong with them, they look brand new, new cases and everything.

How do you tell what gen. it is? I have one that I have not used since I got my ipad and was thinking about trading it in- does it say someplace in it what it is??
