IPOD Touch Break-resistant cases??

I am not following. You bought an Otterbox but your ipod was in 4 pieces within a year despite having one?

Now you bought a Defender (which is made by Otterbox) and it is ok now? What ipod did you put the new case on if the old one was in 4 pieces?

My 10 year old son had an Otterbox and in 1 year, it was in 4 pieces. We then bought a Defender for I think $39.00 and it's been 7 month- so far so good.

Dawn M- sorry I screwed up the names. We started with the Defender and it was in 4 pieces within the year. Now have the Survivor and along with lots more care and responsibility on my son's part- it's held up. He actually likes the Defender- more comfortable for him to hold and pass to someone.

My kids just have hard cases for their Ipod Touches. My 9 year old's touch no longer has a case as I haven't found a new one for her and hers is like the 2nd generation. I bought her a new Touch and a i-Blason Armadillo case for this one. The best thing I did was purchase a squaretrade warranty as well.

Oh and her 2nd Generation Ipod Touch is still in pretty good condition minus some scratches on the back.

****WARNING****

My DS 9 had the Survivor and took his ipod fishing. It got a bit wet in the boat (just from being on the lake!) and the moisture got trapped IN the case! I was furious --- it was ruined and by the time we realized it, it was too late:mad: Amazon reviews indicate he isn't the only one who had this problem.

Bottom line---keep electronics AWAY from water. :thumbsup2

DD 15 is really hard on cases ! She broke her Otter Box within 2 months. If bought at AT&T or a retail store it would be under warranty. However we bought it on Amazon for less, so no warranty.

Dd10 (today is her Birthday! ) begged for a Griffin Survivor case like her BFF has. Purchased from Best Buy. She loves it! Time will tell if it is better or not. I am saving my receipt lol! (It was $40 which I thought was ridiculous! )

My dd has the Otterbox Defender but my dses wanted something different for theirs. I just ordered a couple Survivor cases (by Griffin). One from Amazon for $35 and another in different color from Griffin's website for $32.

Quoting myself because Amazon (third party seller) sent me a pink one instead of the black one I ordered, and since it was a third party seller, Amazon could not do an exchange. Worked out perfect though because another third party seller was selling the black one for $18 (free shipping w/ prime). I got it yesterday and it was the right one :cool1:
I don't know if they are still that price, but if you are looking for one, that is a great price!

My daughter's high school gave all the students iPads this year and provided Survivor cases for them all (courtesy of a local bank). As far as I know all of the iPads are in one piece. My husband has a defender case on his iPad and it protects well but I think its slippery.

BE CAREFUL buying from Amazon.com . I recently purchased (last Friday) two otterbox defender cases that were being sold by Amazon (not a seller) and what I received were fakes. The packaging looked real and even had the otterbox hologram on it. I paid $18.00 for each one. Luckily I decided to open them and look being that they are Christmas gifts and they were fakes. When I removed the silicon case they were made of cheap flimsy plastic. (They looked like the cases you would by from a dollar store or somewhere like that.) The case itself did not look like the cases in the store but if you have never had one you would not have known the difference. I returned them and Amazon gave me a full refund. I went ahead a purchased the Griffin Surviviors yesterday for 18.00 and I hope they will be authentic.

Yup, the two cases that I got from Amazon are counterfeit. The wrong pink one they sent, and the black one I bought to replace it. They were from different sellers too, and I wouldn't have even suspected they were fakes but I ordered one directly from Griffin and its very different. Also confirmed that the sku on the box it is in is for a different color iphone case. Both the fake Griffins came with the same SKU.
I'm chatting with Amazon now trying to get a refund. :furious:

Well I just received my new Griffin Cases from Amazon and they were FAKES also. Guess I will be going to the store and paying full price. I am sending them back to Amazon tomorrow!

My mother in law bought my son his Griffin Survivor case and she got it at Walmart. I believe it was $40. So far, 9 months and no issues at all.

Otterbox has a great warranty. My kids are tough on things too. They will replace them under their warranty when purchased through Amazon. I bought 2 for my sons last year for Christmas from Amazon as they were much cheaper and they ripped about 11 months later. Contacted Otterbox, sent the required pictures of the "damage" and new cases arrived within a week.

regards

We got an otter box defender for my son when he was about 18 months and it worked out great for dropping out of the stroller. After about 6 months he figured out how to take the case apart and ripped the connector cover off. Got him a griffin defender and he hasn't figured out how to take it off.
We have a griffin survivor on my daughters iPad, and a defender on her iPhone. She hasn't tried to take off either case yet but she is still under 2.

Lifebox came apart too easy and had to o many parts to fair for me.

All of the devices have had all kinds of juices and water spilled on them and dropped from strollers and out of the car door onto pavement.

OMG!!!!!! Just made dh unwrap ds's otter defender case for his new ipad(christmas present). We are not sure what the real one looks like but after removing the silcon case the plastic looks really flimsy!!!!! Dh is going to the store to buy one and see what they are suppose to be like.I'll come back and let you know what we find.THANKS for the info:thumbsup2

I don't even see $18 otterbox defender cases on Amazon. I bought several for iPads over the past year for around $50 and none were fake. I love Amazon and am curious about this.

Its no longer $18. That one was sold by Red Apple Outlet. The other counterfeit one came from iAccessory shop. Both of these were fulfilled by Amazon so I'm not really sure where the inventory is coming from. I informed Amazon about it so hopefully they will do something, but since the sellers are still on the site it doesn't look like it.

Luckily I found one lonely black one left at Best Buy bundled with some earbuds. I just told them I didn't want the earbuds, so just the case was $30. It looks like all the 4th generation cases have been clearanced out there.
