iPod Touch Best Bundle/Price Watch

I ended up not doing the TRU deal since we decided to hold off to christmas and see what deals come out in the next few weeks. Im going to buy the 8GB with video and camera for ds. I have bought a refurb. Ipod for dd and it has held up real well. Unfortunately I cannot do it this time around since the video/camera is new..

I'm not sure how anyone feels about craigslist, but I just purchased a brand new 3rd generation 32 gb ipod touch from craigslist for my dd for $120.00. Everything was still sealed, however before I gave the money, I made sure the ipod turned on and worked. When I got it home, I updated the software so it's ready for my dd on christmas morning =) It's worth a try if your up for it, I saved about $130.00 this way =)

Same here. Waiting for good deal because on we want the cameras for Facetime. Nana just got an Iphone :goodvibes Coolest grandma ever!

What are the major differences between all three ? My two kids are asking for one from santa. They are 8 and 9 so they really do not need all the bells and whistles.
Thanks
Shuffle has no screen and user cant control what order the songs are played in. Nano has a small screen. It can take pictures and video. Music playback is controled using a click wheel. Touch has a large screen with better resolution. Fourth generation touch can take pictures and has retinal recognition. Screen is much sharper than previous generations. Uses a touch screen to control music playback and other functions. Can download apps and has wi fi capabilities.

I would be concerned that a craigslist item might be stolen property. Especially since it was new in the package and less than half of what the item retails for. If its serial number is reported as stolen, apple can brick the ipod when it syncs with itunes. Hope thats not the case with your daughters new ipod. I just wouldnt be willing to take the risk.

You can actually load playlists on to the shuffle and music will play in that order - the 'shuffle' option is just an option. Might be a bit to complicated for an 8/9 year old, but they also may not care about the order.

The new touch has what they call a 'retina display', which means it's pixelated/HD enough to beyond the point that the eye can see. But maybe retinal recognition is in our future!! ;) It is a stunning display, same one as the iPhone 4.

And about the craigslist touch -- I wouldn't be too worried because this fall Mac did the promo where you get a free iPod touch when you purchase a computer for back to school. I did this and sold the iPod for $100 and still came out ahead!!

My ds12 is asking for an ipod touch and to be honest I have no idea what these are or why he wants one?? Besides playing music what does it do? Do you pay for the apps & is there a monthly charge to use it like an iphone?
Thanks for any info & hope I didn't hijack the thread!

Thanks for posting! Anyone know if Wal Mart price matches when it's a free gift card with purchase?

I had a 10% target shopping pass exp. 10/28 which I was able to stack with the extra 5% target red discount. I paid about $197.00 with both discounts. Still checking to see if I can find a better deal, but pretty happy with that price.

This is on my shopping list as well. I will be buying 2 for my twin DDs(13), looking like Target on Black Friday might be the best deal for me, thanks for posting that.

No monthly charge.

Video calls with FaceTime
Camera
Games
Music (duh ;))
Watch TV and movies
eBook reader
Email
Internet (WiFi)
Maps
Apps (some free, some cost a small fee)
And more!

My DS8 has been asking for one ever since they came out, but I still think he is too young. Might give in this year just because I want to play with it.

I was looking at the Target Black Friday deal vs the refurb Apple Store, not sure what I want to do since I prefer the newer model but DS won't care.

target here I come on BF! I have never tried to purchase eletronics before so this will be an experience. thanks

Thanks so much for the info! :-) The kids are much more into the electronics than I am!

Thanks for posting! :thumbsup2 I'm trying to surprise my sister with the 32GB and so far I've really only seen the deals for the 8GB :confused3 I'm really hoping this means other stores will at least offer something close with the 32GB so I don't have to go to the dreaded Toys R Us. Did I see correctly they are also opening at 10pm on Thursday for this?

Thanks,
Heather

I just saw the TRU black friday ad and it does say 10pm.. their deal is better with the $50 GC

I need to buy two. Anyone know if I can buy one and turn around and use the $50 GC toward the second one?

I just wanted to add that there is nothing that Apple can do if your ipod is stolen. My oldest son's ipod was stolen, we called apple thinking there might be something they could do (like what a PP described). Nothing could be or would be done. He later recovered it with the help of friends, he had a passcode on his. Whoever the thief took it to, knew enough about ipods to break that and reformat it.

Apple was giving ipods away with a macbook purchase. My nephew bought one (brand new unopened) on craigslist from someone who already had an ipod and had no use for a new one.
