Does anyone know where I can get the best deal on a 4th or 5th generation ipod touch? I am not sure which one I am going to buy. probably whatever one I can get the best deal on. Thank you.

Target had a great deal on black Friday online. You could check and see there. It was 199 for a 4th gen but a $40 gift certificate.

I purchased a 4th generation 62GB from Apple refurbished for $229 for my Ds a few weeks ago.

We went with the deal from Apple for a refurbished 4G with 32 GB of memory for $179 plus tax (total was just over $190). DS is thrilled (well, he'll be more thrilled this weekend when his birthday party happens and he can get it in his hot little hands!)

What does your existing Apple infrastructure look like? The 5th gen has improvements in a number of areas (RAM, processor, camera, etc.), but it also uses the new connector. If you're a new iDevice buyer the new model is better all around (other than price). However if you have older devices and lots of docks, charging cords, etc. using the old 30 pin connector it can be a nusiance or added cost...
