ipod shuffle?

I wanted to get DH an ipod for a gift, but I'm so confused! I didn't want to spend alot and the shuffle seems like a reasonable price. He'd probably use it while mowing the lawn or sitting outside with the kids - I don't picture him walking around with it everyday. I know we'd both enjoy downloading the WDW podcasts - anyone know if this can be done with the shuffle?

I'm confused on how it works. Does it randomly play everything on it or can you have separate playlists and then hear those randomly?
For instance have one group of songs, another group and then a podcast?

Would the smaller 512 GB model be able to hold one of WDW's podcasts?

OK, I found a Creative MuVo TX FM and a Creative MuVo Micro N200 online.

I have the Creative MuVo TX FM and love it!!!! It works like the iPod Shuffle, but it has a screen so you can see what's playing. I also like the fact that it has an FM radio.

I got my DH the IPOD Shuffle last February, he uses it while he's mowing the lawn, he loves it. He downloads his songs from Itunes, it does play them randomly, but there are so many songs that he doesn't get sick of them.
He has a sit-down tractor and all you hear is him singing out there, the neighbors must think he's nuts LOL

I can picture that! I have a very hard time resisting the urge to sing along with my iPod.

I have heard that they may be doing away with the shuffles, so check it out before you buy.

I bought DH the video Ipod for Christmas. He loves it and uses it all the time.

I would look at of the models before you buy.

We use ours for more than just music. Our kids use the language software, ilingo and it's wonderful. I don't think you can use that on a shuffle but I'm not sure. We can also put videos we make on it and DH can watch them if he has to go out of town or something.

If you just want something he can listen to music on while mowing the lawn, walking, etc. then the shuffle is probably a good idea.

I went back and bought the Creative MuVo Micro N200 which has been renamed Creative Zen Nano Plus. On amazon it was free shipping, 5% off plus a mail in rebate of $20 making it $79.74! After reading up on cnet it seemed like a much better player than the Shuffle anyway - more features.
