i was going to buy the apple camera adapter today and the sales guy said if you delete the pictures from your memory card it will delete them from the ipod...yes or no..i know it will do that with songs unless you put in on manual update but guessing it wouldn't be possible without a computer to put it on manual for the pics...

Head to the apple support site and check on the apple discussion boards. I don't think so, i have read the manual, and yes if you upload them the ipod, and take them off of the memory card, you will not be able to review your pics until you upload from ipod to computer. The pictures are stored on the disk from the camera, and just like a word document you might store on your ipod you can't open it, but you can transfer it to a computer. Then you can re download them to your ipod, via itunes, to be able to view them on the ipod or show on a TV via cables.

ok that makes sense...i will check out the site, he had looked up something but i didn't know what

Luckliy, he's talking complete tosh. In actual fact you NEED to delete the pics from your memory card after uploading them, otherwise the next time you connect your iPod next you'll upload them again and you'll have 2 copies of them.

you will not be able to review your pics until you upload from ipod to computer
This isn't correct either.
You can view them on your iPod when uploaded, but what you cannot do is output the image to a TV as you can with your "regular" photo library on your iPod. The photos don't appear in your library on your iPod menu, but in "Photo Import", which is a menu option which appears after you have connected to a camera and uploaded some photos.
If you want to output to a TV you need to put them onto your computer furst and then synch with you iPod as ususal.

Below are some shots of my iPod having uploaded a pic to it this morning, showing the way it will look.

The other thing to check is that you've got a compatitible iPod as some of the older ones won't work with it. Some pointers here - Apple Camera Connector page iPod accesories page

Hope it helps.

it did ... due to the "chicken" factor i might just get another 2 gb card and be done with it( that would give me 6 1/2 gb...not really sure if that's enough for a 10 day trip or not, not to wdw, but N andS carolina where i will basically just be taking pictures) there were a number of ? on the apple discussion site about people having problems with the adapter...and not being all that tech knowledgable ,for me the easier the better.

at the price of an iPod, you'll be able to get three 2 Gb Sandisk Ultra II CF cards.

yeah the excuse for husbands 60 gb ipod was to store picts on it for me...

yeah but Kelly with me it's take 50 pics, throw 49 away.. so i need lots of room for garbage :lmao: actually i am going to make my self slow down and think, check the lcds ( my biggest problem, well one of my biggest,)count to 10..and probably miss every stinkin shot :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I saw some of these before I got mine, but have not had any real problems, agree it is a leap of faith, but it is easy to do. Also, if you've already got the iPod the connector is a cheap addition.

Well, as you know I only shoot JPEG Large and 2 Gb is enough for a 20-day trip to WDW and Universal. So I'd think 8 Gb should be enough for anybody who's shooting JPEG Large for 10 days.
