DS' Nano says:

At the top, Disk Mode, then a huge check in the center of the screen, then ok to disconnect - and we can't get back to the playlist... help, anyone?

Thanks

I tried restarting it - turned it off, then back on, then pressed play and pause at the same time - nothing happened.

dumb question coming did you look it up on apple's website ? they tell you what it means and how to fix it.

i had something like that happend to my husband ipod mini and we couldnt get it to work. so we ended up going out and buying a newer bigger one that plays movies and stuff.

OK this happened to me and I believe I went to the apple site with the ipod plugged in , went to the ipod support site, downloaded the updates, clicked reset, restarted the computer and happily saw the apple logo. It took me about 2 hours the finally get it to work and I used the on-line help If this doesn't work you can always take it to the apple store. Nancy

Eek! :confused3 I did go to the site, it tells you how you're supposed to get into "disk mode" - and how to get out - last resort is supposed to be to restart the Nano.

I hope I DON'T have to download software - this computer is ancient - stops working periodically - as my Gateway is in the repair for more extended warranty repair - they've had it for almost a month now... that's a rant for another thread!

We don't have an Apple store here - guess I'll keep trying to figure it out!

This may be worth trying as well. I have a nano, but haven't seen this problem. DS has a regular Ipod and his froze up similar to what you're described. He went to Itunes, plugged his Ipod in and did an "update Ipod". It didn't change any of his songs but it reset what had to be reset and he was on his way.

try the apple website for help... it's very helpful.. my dd's ipod had a sad face :confused3 on it and was corrupted... a quick d/l from the website and it was fixed.. i did have to put her music back on again.

I had the same thing happen to me. Here are the steps to get it to reset:

switch the top button (the hold one) to show the orange.. and then back to normal position. Then Hold the center button and the Ring down until the nano turns itself off and on again.. and you will see the apple... if this does not happen, then you have to take it into an apple store and if it is still within warranty, they will replace it for you... free of charge.. new nano :) That's what I had to do!

IF you do have to go to an apple store, word of advice... go to their website and find your local store.. then make an appointment for the Genus Bar (I believe that is what is called) their terminology for Technical Service I guess! LOL!!

Mine went into this frozen zone when I plugged it in while the hold button was in the hold position... apparently this causes problems sometimes... so.. everyone beware before you charge.. make sure your hold switch ontop of your nano is in the regular position.... better safe than sorry!

Good luck!

Kathy

Okay - I think it's "back" - I downloaded a new version of the itunes software - it kept saying "do not disconnect" - then it I tried the restart function a couple more times - it finally worked!

This just happened out of the blue - we had it at work yesterday - it was fine, took it out of the "work" bag this morning and it was in disk mode! Hope it's not breaking... we're getting an Apple store soon - saw the logo on an empty space in the mall this week!

Thank You All!
