Ipod headphone suggestions...AAARRG! Update.

I love my JVC Marshmallow earphones (purchased on Amazon for around $12). They sound great to me, but keep in mind I am not a person who really cares about all the little intricacies of sound quality, so I might not be the best person to give an opinion on this. Perhaps you could read the reviews on Amazon to see if they would be good for you. To me, they block more outside noise than my expensive noise-cancelling headphones, and they are MUCH more portable!

Oh how I wish I could afford the Bose, but I think we max out at $25 for a price point. I'll admit, my old Phillips Surround Sound buds sounded so phenomenal (what awesome BASS!) but weren't the most comfortable. I wish I could find a pair that were as comfy and noise cancelling as the Skull Candy was with the great sound and bass of my Phillips Surround Sound buds.

Though they are out of your price range these earbuds are amazing.

A pair came with my Zen X-Fi MP3 player and I love them, before I hated earbuds because they always hurt my ears. These are comfortable to wear and I think the sound quality is pretty darn good. Plus they come with 3 different size cushions to fit almost any ear.

And they do cancel out noise. I was at a sold out college basketball game today and had these in to save my eardrums.

In 2007, I bought a set of Shure earphones for DH. He loves them!:thumbsup2 They came with a small round case for storage, which he always takes with him when he travels.

I'd like to find a set of in-ear headphones with the iPod controls incorporated. I have a set of Bose in-ear and I love them, but I hate having to give up the control of the iPod to use them.

And since I use an iPhone, I also like that the Apple set comes with a built-in microphone for calls.

It's awesome to be on the treadmill or mowing the lawn and be able to pause, skip, or turn the volume up or down without having to hunt for the phone in my pocket and then unlock it.

???

Do you mean that once you have the BOSE plugged in, it locks you out of making adjustments on your ipod?? Not sure I follow.

LOL - not exactly. I worded that terribly.

The iPhone (I'm not sure about current iPods) has a feature with the earbuds that come with it. There are tiny buttons on the headphones (actually, on the wires) that allow you to stop, pause, skip, turn the volume up and down, etc. I haven't found any headphones that have those controls, other than the cheapies that Apple sells with the phone.

It saves you from having to dig out the phone to do those things. My DH has a terrible habit of talking to me when I'm cleaning the house, listening to audiobooks. It's just easier to reach up and push a button on the headphone wire versus getting the iPhone out of my pocket, unlocking it and then hitting "pause" hear what he was saying.

Usually his response is "nevermind, I forgot you had your headphones on." ;)

I got a pair of these for christmas. While I only listen to audiobooks and podcasts on my ipod, so I don't know how they sound with music, I have to say they are the most comfortable earbuds I have used. I was really unhappy with all the other ones I have tried and these are great! I have even fallen asleep wearing them they are so comfortable. They do look a little odd, but the comfort factor is more important than the fashion one, and they are really cheap too!

I got a pair of noise cancelling at Tuesday Morning for about $20. It's worth a shot trying off price. I totally prefer the buds when I'm out, but they block out everything when I need no distraction.

My husband has a pair of Shure earbuds. They make different models from about $79 to $300. His were somewhere in the middle and he loves them.

Have you checked Overstock.com? I see a bunch of different earbud options and the prices look pretty good.
