My MIL was raving about the Iphone to me and I have vision problems and so I agreed to go look at it. I went and couldn't see it all that much better then my HTC touch pro. It wasn't the cost of the phone that got me as you get a good discount with a contract but it was the monthly fees. It was 140 bucks with text, data and minutes that I would need. Ummm I don't think so, no thanks.

I have the sprint simply everything plan I think it is. 5 phones, 1500 regular minutes, free nights and weekends starting at 7 and unlimited minutes to any other cell network even if it is not sprint. We don't come close to touching all our minutes and the 192 includes taxes and full insurance includin lost or stolen or water damage.

I don't know what the people at apple are smoking. My htc pro wasn't cheap, in fact more then the iphone but it does everything the iphone does and more probably.

Even with the family plan for the iphone for 2 people it wouldn't even make sense.

So I am happily sticking with what I have.

Thanks for sharing - I love my iPhone and don't think I would trade it for anything! We pay $118 a month for 2 phones with a company discount.

Love my Iphone as well. I pay 150.00 a month for 2 Iphones, full plans on both.zz

I guess each person has their likes and dislikes. I had an HTC (don't think it was the same as yours though) and it sucked...I HATED it. All three of them that I ended up getting because one after another they would have to be replaced. I had a friend that had the same problem. It might have been the model but I will never go back. Just for the simple fact that even though they didn't make my model anymore it seemed to be okay to send me a refurbished phone with the same issues as my last one! I have an i phone...yes I love it. My boyfriend bought it for me (and he pays the bill so I ain't complaining) but with three phones its only around 110 bucks a month for us. I don't think its better than all other phones or that it does more or anything like that but I like it:cloud9:...and I am totally sold on the Disney apps. Oh and where I live sprint is definitely NOT the way to go so maybe that makes a difference..

Was this on a promotional deal that you got 150 a month for two phones?! I think that's a great price! If that's the case, i'd rather have the iPhone then my stinkin blackjack...:rotfl:

A little OT, but what the heck were you talking about when the tag fairy got you for the quote in blue?!?! :lmao:

We get a very small (less than 10%) discount through my husbands work, and we dropped the unlimited texting (went with basic plan) since just about everyone we know has an Iphone and we just use the aim mobile app. We also have a pretty low minute plan, again cuz everyone we talk to has AT&T so mobile to mobile is free. Around here AT&T is the only really reliable service.
That being said, I love my Iphone. Actually laying in bed posting thus from it now :)

Another iPhone lover here :goodvibes I don't know what I would do without it. We have a really inexpensive call plan (that we've had for as long as cell phones!) so it is a grandfathered plan. I think we are both on our 5th or 6th phones, and we keep them beyond the 2 years until they stop working. The data plan adds $30 a month and we only have that on my phone. I don't text much so have a $5 a month plan.

Love my iPhone.

I get that people like their Iphones. I like my ipods too, they are great and easy to use. iBut with the plan prices and us needing 5 phones for our family I can't imagine what the monthly bill would be.

Right now I have so many minutes that I don't have to worry who I call and if they are on network or off or if it is a home or business number, I just chat away. I also like the qwerty keyboard alot. I am still learning my phone it is complex but I am getting it. I just could never justify that kind of money on a phone bill where I would be worrying about my minutes used.

I would NEVER go back! LOVE my IPHONE!! We have two... 1500 minutes, unlimted texting... company discount... 125 a month.. worth EVERY PENNY!
If Verizon gets the Iphone... Once the Hoopla dies down I would probably go back to them for my Iphone over AT&T, but once you have it...U can't live without it! :thumbsup2

My DH loves his Iphone.

I don't have one but I hate his. He sounds like he's talking thru a tin can when he calls me, calls get dropped all the time, barely any kind of a signal at our home even though the AT&T map says we should be getting it just fine.

We don't live in a rural area, we are in a crowded suburb of Atlanta so we shouldn't have these issues with it.

I'm sticking with my Verizon and am going to upgrade to a Droid later this month.

I hope I don't have any of the issues DH has with the Iphone or I won't be happy.

I don't use my cell phone enough to justify paying and extra $30 a month to get internet on it...so I bought an ipod touch because I'm, basically, at home (we have a wireless network) or whever else I am...school, restaurants, stores, library...basically all have wifi that I can pick up on.

Only downside is I can't do the GPS apps, like the Disney park maps.

I think a lot of people are trying to show that, yes, they love their iPhones, but also, they are not paying what you are quoting above and maybe it could be affordable for you and is not a rip-off. Is the $140 just for the one iPhone? If I am reading your original post correctly, you are paying $192 for a plan with 5 phones. Do you currently have a data plan? Once you set up your plan with the first phone (with ATT or I believe any of the companies), the additional phones and minutes are much cheaper. You are paying the high fee for the call plan on the first phone. But if you are happy with the phone you have, then there you go!

$30/month is a small price to pay for the happiness that my Iphone gives me. :hippie:

Yes I agree - I don't know what it would cost for 5 phones but we have so many minutes on our phones - I don't even know how many, we have thousands of roll over minutes built up -- so watching the minutes has never been a concern for us with our plan. I couldn't use all our minutes if I tried. For our $118 (it was about $130 before the discount we get), we have the full data plan, but no texting because we rarely text and use a free service when we need to. Texting would add $30 if we added it.

It's hard to believe that the service would cost you that much more than your current service, but I could be wrong.

And as the PP said, if you're happy with what you have - that's great - I guess I just don't see AT&T/iPhone as being any particular kind of rip-off.

Have you tried a different Bluetooth??Maybe that would help:confused3. Also my friend has a droid and even though he loves it it seems to have a lot of issues (for example no matter how you change the timing the screen light won't turn off and it kills his battery)....I have no idea though how much is human error on his part;). So read up on it and make sure they take back screwy phones in your contract:laughing:.

We're paying about $106.00 a month for five phones with AT&T on a family plan. One of us uses the cell as his only phone. There are plenty of minutes that roll over every month. I'm considering a smart phone to replace mine which would cost an additional $30.00 a month for the required data plan. We do get about a 5% discount offered to employees of my husband's company.

I have 5 phones on my plan, 4 of them are I phones It cost me around $300.00 a month.

I currently have a blackberry without internet, I got it before they required it. If I upgrade I will have to buy a $30 month plan. I have looked at the iPhone but really don't like the touchscreen and think I would miss having the keyboard on the blackberry and I don't want to pay $30 a month. We have 5 phones with a family texting package and pay $170 a month (AT&T).

I have considered buying an iTouch for apps and wifi to check mail remotely. Plus I figure if I had an iPhone my kids would have it all the time! This way I could let them play games, watch movies etc and still be able to have a phone separately. The only thing I woudn't have this way is remote access to my email when not in a wifi area. I work at home on the computer so thats not a big issue.

Love the iPhone, like others, we have two and have a $120 a month bill - inclusive - there is a discount on the plan through my husband's employer. Its cheaper than when I had a Blackberry and he had an iPhone.
