My iPhone 3g is working very slow lately and today it froze for a couple hours. I'm thinking thats like an omen that I need the new iPhone when it comes out. Can someone advise me on the speculations with the new iPhone 5 and what do they cost when they come out? I'm an AT&T customer and due for and upgrade if that helps.

Thanks!! I'm normally not one of those that has to have the latest and greatest, but I need a new phone and if there is a new one on the horizon...why not.

I've been having issues with my Iphone 4 for nearly a week now. I'm not sure if it's the phone or if something is going on with the Network. I can see a trip to the Apple Genius bar in my future to find out what is going on.

I see the new Iphone 4S will be $200 and will be available to order starting on Oct. 7 with a possible arrival date of Oct. 14. Not sure what the new price will be for the Iphone 4 once the "S" comes out. I know they slashed the price on the 3 to $50 when the 4 had been out a few months.

Do you know the trick about making sure all your apps are closed?

you hit the button twice - and the screen pulls up all your running aps - touch those till the red - sign on top of the aps appear - then you delete all those running aps (it does NOT affect your aps)

These are for apps that are running in the background, correct? Like apps that send you alerts and notifications?


This is great info but be carefull what you stop from running because then you may not get important notifications from your email or text. Or if you like getting your FB or Twitter notifications you may not get them if you stop them from running in the background.

OP, If you shut all your apps off by double clicking the home button and clicking the "-" sign, you will still get your updates and alerts. Those being open only allows it to go to the last place you were on the app when you go to it again. If that doesn't work, try a "hard" reset. Hold down the on off button at the same time as the home key. You will see the regular shut down that you would slide to shut the phone off, continue to hold the buttons at the same time till the phone screen goes black. Wait a minute and then restart your phone. If it still doesn't work, try going into setting and put airplane mode on, then shut it right back off. Any or all of these steps should speed up your phone. Let me know if that solves your problems.

With a 2 year contract the 4s is going to be $199 for 8gb, $299 for 32gb, and $399 for 64gb.

My old 3GS we want to repurpose as an itouch for DS5 for Christmas. I want to do the upgrades at the same time but I want to make sure we can get them before Xmas.

Honestly, my 3G seems like it has been incredibly slow since I started running iO4. I've been awaiting the release of the next-gen iPhone for that reason. I plan to buy a new phone whether or not the 5 comes out any time soon. I just can't take the 3G any more.

So good luck with the issues you're having! I'm pretty sure the 4GS will cures what ails mine.

I got an upgrade email from Apple today - I believe with contract it showed $0 for 3GS, $99 for 4G, $199 for 16GB 4GS, etc.

They still have them on Verizon. The 4 with 16gb is $149 and the 32gb is $199.

Don't get your hopes up on the iPhone 5. With the announcement of the release of the iPhone 4S yesterday, the iPhone 5 is probably a year away.

FWIW I love my Verizon iPhone 4. I can't wait to upgrade to iOS 5 on my iPhone. DH is going to get the 4S. The upgrade for iOS 5 should be out next week.

Your thumb needs to be quicker. Too slow and it does exactly what you describe. Quicker and it'll pull up (at the bottom of your screen) all the apps you've used lately.

Yeah it took Verizon a day, so I don't know what's going on with AT&T. I used the opportunity to upgrade DP's phone to a 4 for $49.99 (with the renewal discount).

It said something about being able to pre-order Friday, but if you order now the price is still the old pricing, I guess.
