I think I'm finally going to give in a get an iPhone. Just like I swore I'd never get a Facebook.

So, what size memory do you think I need? I don't take/store a lot of pictures on my phone. I don't use my current phone's MP3 capabilities. Basically, I'm not using a lot of memory on my current phone, but I imagine with all the extras you can do with an iPhone I'll be using more space. I'm completely green here, so help a girl out!!

I know you said that you don't use your current phone as an mp3 player, but would you change that once you got the iPhone? I do use mine as my primary iPod at the gym, etc., and i have 32 GB of memory. Even still, I find myself having to manage what's on it more carefully than I thought I'd have to, mainly due to the movies and TV shows and music videos I have on it.

Even if you don't have a big iTunes library or plan on using it all that much for multimedia, etc., I'd probably still err on the safe side and get 16GB because minds can change and you'd hate to get 8 GB (if you're getting an iPhone 3G and not a 3GS) and then find yourself wishing you'd gotten more. You can always find ways to fill up that space. :)

I have my little 4gb Product(red) Nano from years ago. I'm in love with that ancient little thing. :lovestruc So, I use that instead of my current phone. I do have to change up my songs every now and then because there's not enough room on there. Through contests and gifts, though, I have two other iPods, but they're both still in their original packaging (a Shuffle and a new Nano).

I know I'll definitely want to play around with apps, and stick a few things for the kids on there. Is there an average amount of space an app takes? Or is it dependent upon the app?

The app size is totally dependent on the app. There are some that are massive, like some of the GPS apps that contain a lot of maps and other image data. Simpler apps are quite a bit smaller. Most games will be larger than 10MB, which isn't HUGE, but a bunch of those will add up. I know Toy Story Mania is larger than that because I just tried to download an update through my iPhone and it advised that I need to either connect to wifi or download it through iTunes on my computer.

Do you know if you're looking at getting a 3GS or a 3G (if the 3G is even still available in stores)?

I actually ended up getting the 16gb 3GS last night. It's been a lot of fun to play with and a lot easier to learn than I thought. I had just played around with other people's iPhones, but it's an easy and quick learn. :thumbsup2

I got the white one, too, because you could see all the fingerprints and smudges on the black one...but then I put a case on, and it didn't matter. It's lots of fun so far!!

Enjoy it!!! I adore mine. I also have white; one of the things I love 'cause I'm kind of a dork about stuff like this, is all of the different cases you can buy. And if you get any that are translucent, the colors appear much truer than they do on a black iPhone. :thumbsup2

You HAVE to try the Toy Story Mania game! It's remarkably true to the ride and the Wii version of the game. It's $4.99, but well worth it, IMO. :) There are also boatloads of park-related apps. I downloaded the official hidden Mickey app but haven't had a chance to use it in the parks yet; there are also apps re. wait times at rides, park maps, one that lists the info on the Times Guides that are available at the front of every park, etc. I downloaded all of those because sometimes it's nice to be sitting here at home, where it's 40 degrees and boring, and know that Dumbo has a 25 minute wait right now and that tonight's a Wishes night. :goodvibes

 The first things I downloaded were a wait times and park hours/schedule app. (and I've been doing exactly that...checking out wait times while I was at a loooong staff meeting this morning) DISNEY NERD!! Can't wait until I have some time to sit down and really see what I can do with it.

If you'd like to feel a little less geeky, go here. (And I say that as one of the proudly geeky members of that forum. :goodvibes Warning, though--if you ever feel compelled to ask a question, either search the forums first exhaustively, or....ask someone on the DIS. People here are a LOT nicer than over there. It's still a great resource for a lot of information and stuff like case/accessory reviews, that kind of thing. For that matter, so is ilounge.com. They're CONSTANTLY doing reviews of anything and everything iPhone. They're awesome.)

I have the 16gig version. I have 848 songs, 1 movie, 450 photos and 139 apps. I have 4.3 gig available. I kinda wish I had gotten the 32 gig and when the new one comes out this summer, I will be upgrading and I *will* get the larger one this time. LOL

DD wants one in the worst way. And now you guys are making me want one, too.:rolleyes:We have to wait, though, until our Verizon contract runs out.
