I have just gone and bought the iphone 3Gs on Orange. Now what???:rotfl2:

The thing is I bought it because

i) I wanted it

ii) it looks so pretty

iii) my holiday to Disney last week was cancelled dammit and I need a treat.:rotfl2:

I'm a bit of a phone luddite and only used my old one for quick calls and very occasional texts. So what should I be doing with this new toy I have? I think I know what an App is (maybe) but which do I need? Can I access any website I want - and if so, why do I need a Facebook app? I'm such an idiot about these things.

Any advice?

Welcome to the world of iPhones haha. There is an app on your phone where you can get your apps. Click in it and browse each catagory. I usually look at the free apps. There's quite a few Disney ones and even one for DIS. The facebook app is much easier then using it on your iPhone. Be warned you may need to set up an account on iTunes before you can download any apps. You can view any website all for free. I am writing this on my iPhone now good luck an any questions be sure to ask me x

Yay! Here I am on my iPhone. I know I'm a big kid but I find this soooo exciting.
:cool1:

i got mine today i already had an i pod touch so had alot of apps already get toy story mania keeps me busy for hours

Apps for particular sites like this one, facebook, amazon have been written so they easily fit on your screen and can be navigated easier.

The apps you require are individual to you but for example I use an excellent calender/to do list app, shopping list app, eticket (the app for this site), stanza (for e books) etc. Basically you have a hand held computer and you can choose the programs you want to run, some are free others there are nominal charges.

welcome to the club
just play around with it thats the best way to find out how it works

Thanks everyone. I had an initial panic as I couldn't connect to the internet on it, despite following the online instructions. When I phoned Orange it turned out the chap in the shop hadn't activated it correctly so I had to restore factory settings and do it again.:headache: Fortunately I hadn't copied contacts or anything at that point.

Next silly question - when you see an app costs, say £1.59 - is that a weekly charge or a one-off?

It's a one off charge, and you will be notified when there are free updates. I found the iPhone soveasy to use, within a couple of days you will have it mastered and never want yo go back!
