iPhone question

For all the Disers who have multiple iPhones on same account- some quick questions. I have one and I love it. It is the best toy I have ever had. After having one for almost a year- my husband is starting to get the itch.
1. Is the $30 data plan fee per phone? or per account?

2. We currently share the same itunes account. Can aps I have bought and downloaded to our home computer- be put on his iPhone?

I have looked all over the net but could not find the answers. Then I remembered the smartest people I know are Disers! Thanks in advance.

1) I'm not entirely sure. I know iPhone plans are more expensive than other data plans, though.

2) Yes, you can. Basically, after the apps are synced to the computer, you can copy the application files (in your personal iTunes directory, if you each have separate accounts) to a location your husband can access it. He can then add it to iTunes, and it will be available for syncing to his phone. He will need your iTunes store password to receive updates, however. (Which is a good way of ensuring only "trusted" people share apps, and I'm sure there's a limit to the number of devices that can share apps this way.)

Also note that for any app that has "in-app purchases" of extra content, those purchases cannot be shared between phones.

I do know for a fact, that it is $30 per phone, not per account. I have had an iPhone for 3 years and then this past Christmas bought my wife one. It was $9.99 a month to add her as a second line on my account (now making it a family plan) and then another $30 a month for the data plan. So all in all, it's $40 extra a month to add an iPhone to an existing account.

And as the previous poster said, yes you can put any apps, songs or video you have purchased under your account onto the other iPhone, as long as it is being synced with the same computer yours is and as long as the phone is signed into iTunes this the same account info as your phone.

I'm impressed that he held out for almost an ENTIRE YEAR! I bought DH one for Christmas and by my b-day (Feb 4) and was so jealous I thought I would burst. Thankfully, he came through We also pay the $30 data plan fee per phone and do the family share plan. The apps you can tweak so if he picks something you don't want, you don't have to have it on your phone. Likewise, if he doesn't want your apps, he doesn't have to have them either. I do make my DH have the grocery store app though. And you can create a playlist for music for his phone as well. There are rumors that the newest iPhone is coming out - msnbc reported today that walmart cut the price of the 3gs in half (with contract) in preparation for the announcement. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37325517/ns/technology_and_science-wireless/ Don't let DH have a better phone phone than you unless he's willing to trade

Just a side note - if you are not already getting an employer discount on your AT&T account, be sure to find out if you qualify for one. We've been AT&T customers for years and just found out 2 months ago when I got my iPhone that my wife's employer (a local hospital system) entitles her to a discount. We could have been getting it for the past 2 years but at least we are getting it now.

Funny you should mention this. I just realized a month ago that I qualified for a discount through my company. Wound up saving ~$15/month.

Well we heard about the 3GS at Walmart marked down to $97 and we had to do that. I know 4G is coming out but the big rumor is it will have a camera so you can video chat with someone. That is so not us. LOL.
So yesterday I called 20 Walmarts in a 50 mile radius of us and finally found one only 27 miles away.
DH has his iPhone and is very happy. I am a little jealous because I only have the 3G but he has the 3GS but I guess I don't really need a video camera and a compass!

Funny thing when I was helping him with his settings- I told him he could change the line from "Sent from my iPhone" to anything else. I have "Have a Magical Day" on my phone. He thought and then said- I don't know maybe we could pull disers on what they have as their signature line?

Got to love the Dis!!!!!!!!!!
