iPhone Problem

The other day, my iPhone rang it my caller ID told me it was my sister calling. I answered it and was surprised to find a male's voice on the other end. He couldn't hear me and of course I freaked out thinking that something had happened to my sister. After a few tense minutes, I got a hold of my sister hoping it was just a fluke.

That night, while driving home in an intense thunderstorm, I called my sister to check on her (she hates storms) and this time, a man answered. He couldn't hear me, but I could hear him. I hung up and ended up calling the house.

Fast forward to today. I tried to call my husband and a little girl answers. He wasn't with any little girls, he was at home and we have no children. The little girl also couldn't hear me, but I could hear her. It happened to my sister again today when she was trying to call my mom as well as me later tonight.

Has anybody else had these problems? I know it wasn't that I dialed the wrong number because these numbers are on my speed dial and I double checked to make sure that nothing had been changed. My sister called AT&T (that's our provider) and they hadn't heard of it but they had my sister delete and re-add the numbers to her phone.

It's really annoying to never know who you are going to get when you call somebody. My DH and I don't have a landline so we rely on our cell phones so I really hope this problem can be solved.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Go to an Apple store and have them check it out. Bypass AT&T entirely; they don't really know the technology. An Apple Genius should be able to help.

If you don't have a nearby Apple store, contact them by phone or on-line.

Do a hard reset -

as in hold down the round button while holding down the "off switch"" until the phone shuts off completely.

Now wait exactly 2 minutes... (ok sometimes 60 seconds works...)

Then turn the phone back on.


Dont ask me why rebooting computers and smart phones fixes problems 90% of the time, but that's the first thing you should try!!

Also with iphones, did you know that you can double click that button and then a row of aps that is draining battery power shows up? hold down till the red "-" sign shows up then "delete" them (will not delete the ap, will not move the ap from where you have it stored)

Thank you both for the advice. I'm wondering if it is something local because my sister posted about it on FB last night and bunch of people who live in the area are having the same problem. My sister called me this morning and I was holding my breath it was going to be her when I picked up!

I would check howardfourms which a phone board. It has a section for just ATT see if anyone else is having a problem.
