My husband and I are finally going to purchase our iPhones, :cheer2:, and he has a question that I assured him all the wonderful people on the DIS could help us out with.

Could anyone recommend a good case for him? Or what we should avoid? He is not a fan of the holster/belt clip thing because he's afraid it will fall off when he bends over :confused3 and he really needs something that will protect it from breaking because he tends to drop his phone a lot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

I got one that was sold at the AT & T store by me (and several to be honest). I think it was froggy brand or something similar. It was originally $30, but they gave it to me for free after I bought the AppleCare extended warranty and car charger.

I've got an Sylicrillic made by Incipio. I got it at the AT&T store. I like it because it has the silicone "sleeve" but also a smooth rigid back so it does not get hung up in my pocket and adds a little extra support for the occasional drop. That probably doesn't make sense, but if you see it you would understand. DW has a silicone sleeve (not sure what to call it) made by Belkin (I think) and we got it at the Apple store. She likes it. I highly recommend the Anti Glare film that they sell at the Apple store. It works much better than the screen protectors that they sell at the AT$T store. The anti glare film really does a good job keeping fingerprints under control. I have seen that OtterBox makes a full enclosure that is supposed to protect it from submersion and big drops. A friend has one for his Crackberry and I think that he likes it. I'm assuming their iPhone version would be just as good, but I think they are kinda pricey......hey if it saves your phone........the downside on the Otter models is that I think that since it is a full enclosure it makes the phone kinda bulky. Hope that helps!

edit: I just checked the OtterBox website and they do not have a waterproof case for the iPhone. Their case is just supposed to protect it from big drops.

I use a speck case sold at the apple store. It is a rubber case that goe's over the phone and a plastic clip holder I used the clip once it is big and bulkly
I keep my phone in my pocket I'm a mechanic and I have never had any problems with dropping the phone the rubber has grips on it and it helps incase you do drop it.

I purchased an Ifrogz case at the AT&T store. I really like it. It comes in several colors. I purchased the green case.

I'd also recommend getting the 3 pack of clear screen protectors. The lay over top of your IPhone screen. They protect it really well. You can't even tell it is on your screen.

Have fun with your IPhones. I love mine!

I have a mophie case. It is great. It's a hard case for very good protection and best of all it has a built in rechargeable battery that will double the battery life. It is a little pricey though at 79.00

I love the iFrogz cases that we sell at the AT&T store. I have a case by Agent 18 that is a gel sleeve with a very pretty flower design, but the gels start to stretch after a few months. I just ordered a "combo pack" of 5 cases off the Agent 18 website for the family to share.

I bought the Contour case that you have the link to, but I returned it when I saw DH's Otterbox. It has covers over the various ports, but it is still easy to plug in to charge. It does add a bit of bulk, but it really feels secure and comfortable in my hand. I also felt like it was good protection for the phone when I am running around. I would be lost if I broke it. I also felt like the clip/holster was much more substantial.

We ended up getting the Otterboxes cheaper off of Ebay than the Contour was at the store.

Whatever you chose, enjoy your phone.

I used to have this one and really liked it. Loved the combo of the hard back and soft case. I did not like that it was either black or white (the AT&T store only sold the black/white combo package). I could have ordered another color online, but never got around to it... so I went into the AT&T store one day after work and got what Aaron has:

I originally got the same green one, but DH decided he liked it and wanted green and the more I had the green the less I liked it, so I went and bought the blue and gave DH the green. This case makes the phone less bulky. Plus, it's really smooth - I can sit there and just rub the back of my phone, it's so soft. Yeah, it's a sickness...:rolleyes1

Not to go all OT on you guys, but has anyone had any luck with a really great FM transmitter? The one I got for DH's car a few months ago doesn't work very well (Belkin Tunecast). For my old 30 gb classic, I have a DLO transmitter that is PERFECT for me but I can't seem to get a consensus on a good transmitter for the iphone 3g. Opinions anyone?

:lmao:
As long as you don't start making wishes while you are rubbing the phone we'll let it slide. :wizard:
