iPhone case

Since I got my iPhone I've been using RunKeeper which I really love! I also use my iPhone as my iPod. I'm using a Griffin armband to carry my iPhone which has worked pretty well so far, although it is tough to get tight enough on my arm.

My problem is rain. Does anyone have a waterproof case that they like? I cannot stand to have anything around my waist, so a spibelt is not the answer for me. I'm looking for something on my arm.

I guess the other solution is just to put the iPhone in a baggie before putting it in the case! If I kill my iPhone it will be a while before I can replace it.

TIA!

I sweat ..... a lot. I slide mine in a zip lock baggie prior to putting in armband. I allow the ear phone jack to poke the hole through the baggie. It's not 100% water proof, but better than the armband by itself

I do not think there is much of a solution - but am looking for others who may have seen something better.

Darn! I was hoping for the perfect solution. I may end up running with my Shuffle if there's rain (or sleet!) in the forecast.

My shuffle (3rd gen - the buttonless model) stopped working in a downpour a couple of weeks ago. I dried it out in a bowl of rice for a couple of days, and it was fine for a 10-miler, but then died again the next day after an hour of my 20-mile run. So now I have a new shuffle that will not be joining me in the rain.

I had already decided to solve the problem of iPhone moisture by getting a completely separate phone just for running. I wanted a phone for emergency purposes but ultimately decided that rather than come up with a way to keep my iPhone dry (my original concern was with the relentless humidity and sweat of the past summer) I didn't actually need to be carrying such a coveted piece of electronics with me on my dark, solo, early-morning runs at all. So I got a free, ruggedized, dumb phone and added it to our family plan for ten bucks a month.

So, unfortunately, my solution has been to learn to run without my iProducts depending on conditions.

I have an armpocket sport. It holds my iPone perfectly plus allows room for keys too. Its waterproof and the window is made of a material that allows you to use the touch screen without having to remove it from the pouch. I saw it at the Peachtree Rd Race expo and fell in love. heres the link http://www.armpocket.com/products/SPORT-20-LW.html

They are neat. Can you better describe the head phone jack port on the armband. The website does not do a good job of showing. In most arm bands, that is the weak link in preventing water damage.

I also have an armpocket sport. I used it at Wine and Dine and was able to fit my room key, Id, GU, camera, Iphone and some gum in it. I Love it.

Thank you so much - that looks great!! :cool1::cool1: Hopefully I can get one before my 24 miler to give it a good test.

Ooo, the armpocket looks interesting. I have never used an armband for my phone before, but might try. I generally just hold the phone in my hand, but I have had trouble with humidity, sweat, etc. Plus the constant fear of dropping it (though it's in a good case).

Not sure how I'm going to tolerate having something squeeze my arm, though! But I think it may be worth an experiment.

I use a product called ArmPod by Amphipod. It is an armband type case which is waterproof and has a hidden slot where you can put a drivers license, credit card, cash, etc.

You can buy them on Amazon.

Another option would be the water proof spi belt. Not sure how it would work with the headphone cable coming out but might be work looking into.

I use a lifeproof case. You can even take it under water. I also use runkeeper. Are we teammates?

My iphone is in a Otterbox. Do you have to take it out of the Otterbox or any other Iphone case or will the entire phone and case fit in this armband?

I don't like armbands. I can't keep them from sliding down. (must be my massive muscles :) )

I only wear shorts that have pockets. I keep the Iphone in there in my waterproof case.

I have had an armpocket for a couple weeks. I think that you should take the iPhone out of the otterbox before putting in the pocket if you are wanting to use the window easily. The phone is held up to the window with an elastic band. I tried to install the iPhone with the Otterbox still on. I think it would fit, but did not want to over stretch or rip the elastic. If you are not wanting the window functionality, you do not need to slip the phone under the elastic band as there is plenty of storage room in the sleeve. You just may need to fumble with the controls a little longer while running.
