Ok, peeps, last time I went was 7 years ago, and I didn't have a smartphone then.

What are the best/most useful apps for the parks?

I used to use RideMax. Is that still worth it, and is the smartphone app any good?

I have already downloaded Walkee, which is apparently the DL sanctioned app. Thoughts on that one?

TIA!

I always use Mousewait. It is not sanctioned by DL, but it is very good in terms of lines and times. DL does not have a sanctioned app like WDW does. But using Mousewait is a lifesaver and I would recommend it to anyone.

How reliable is mousewait in the parks as far as Internet connection? As there is no Wi-Fi, how fast does it connect to update?

Another vote for Mousewait! We tested out Walkee, MouseWait, Mouse Connect, and DLR Lines (from Touring Plans) this past week at the parks (March 1-5) and found MouseWait to be the most accurate and most helpful of the 4. It loaded faster than the others and seemed to have the most up to date information.

Thanks for posting this......while have to give this a try on our upcoming trip:thumbsup2

I love Mousewait, too, but if you can, consider bringing a portable power bank, as apps like this tend to deplete phone batteries pretty quickly.
