iPhone - 8g or 16g

Green Tea, maybe I missed it if you're on the $20 unlimited plan (as opposed to the $30). In reading through that ATT forum thread, maybe you're right if that's the case. At this point I have no idea, too darn confusing. :lmao: Good luck with whatever you decide.

Deleted - I said something incorrect (shocking I know!)

But everyone's right - it all can be a bit confusing, no doubt! I wrote one thing originally, then someone corrected me, I edited my original post, and then a while later, someone else corrected that person, basically saying what I had said the first time! :confused3

I'll be ordering my new iPhone 4s tomorrow - that's all that matters to me at this point - yippee! :)

Iphones are so....yesterday and referring to AT&T as a "smartphone leader" is like calling Six Flags the "theme park leader." :rotfl:

HTC Incredible Droid, the Iphone Killer

http://www.mobilemag.com/2010/05/14/review-htc-droid-incredible-is-the-iphone-killer/

I have the same issue....

I would take the plunge and upgrade, but I'm not sure I can keep the unlimited plan. I never made the leap from the first generation to 3G. At that jump you had to change the data plan to the one that was $10 a month more and no longer included any text messages. Now I want to go to 4G, which allows upgrading and keeping the plan, but I don't think it will allow me to keep mine. I will get bumped to limited data, I think.

Okay.

We've been with AT&T forever and a day.

Our current plan/sign-up expires on 7/16.

How much is it going to cost me per month for minutes and usage for two new iPhones? And I mean the new, new iPhones.

I do not have any current data plans but we're ready to make the leap now.

Is it $39.99 (minutes) plus $15 (data) plus $5 (texts) per phone for the basic coverage?

The cost of the phone itself is of no importance to me as we've planned already to get the $199 phones.

Handbag Lady:

Data plan for new users: If you go with the 2G plan it will be $25/month (minus an employee discount of 25% if you have one, only avail on 2G plan, running about $19/month) or $15/month for the 200MB plan - per phone.

Texting: The one I know best is the Unlimited Family Plan which is $30 total for all phones. (There are plans that have a certain # of texts per month that run, I believe $10 per phone, but don't quote me on that. Someone else will know more. ETA see ** below.)

If you want to add other things like parental controls, GPS, etc, it runs more, per phone.

If you're a long term customer, you probably have a good phone minutes plan, and you can keep it.

Oh and btw, if your plan expires on 7/16, you can sign up 30 days early at an ATT store. The only thing is that the phone you want doesn't come out until the 24th. Make sure you pre-order it. I've heard that ATT is good about having the pre-ordered phones available right away.

** ETA here you go for Texting (copied and pasted):

None - $0.20 per Text/Instant Message; $0.30 per Picture/Video Message

Thank you!

I think the $5 text will work. It is just me and the Husband and he doesn't text. I do, but it is never more than 50 a month.

I do work for a company that does give discounts for AT&T, but I don't think it is 25%. I'll check.

I have been trying to order mine for the last hour. After getting to the final screen a couple of times, the site is now closed for maintenance. Grr

I did have the option of keeping unlimited data. It does require going to the 3G plan, which is an extra $10 a month over my initial plan, and it charges $5 for the 200 text messages I currently have included.

Dang - I want to order to but they're "upgrading our experience" or something - LOL! Yeah right, it has nothing to do with Apple's servers probably being overloaded!

Here's the question - if I order for store pick-up, am I going to have to wait in the giant line, or are they going to let pre-order folks in the door? We lucked out 2 years ago, we were buying a laptop on release day, so they just let us in w/o waiting in line, and then we ended up buying the phones while we were in the store -- so for us, no line at all!

I can't decide whether we should go into the store (especially since we're upgrading from existing phones) or just have them shipped to our house. Think we'll be able to figure out what to do if we just have them shipped? Is it complicated - I assume you have to put the old SIM card in the new phone or something?

If you preorder it will be shipped with a programmed sim card installed. You complete the process once you connect to itunes. Once you activate, the old phone becomes inactive.

Thanks! Still can't get the pre-order done though - it just keeps hanging up while trying to obtain my account info or an even earlier step - guess I will just keep trying.

We stopped by the Apple store today because we were at the mall anyway, but while we were waiting for someone to wait on us, my DH heard them tell another customer they couldn't take any orders in the store for the new phones and to just go online, so we left. It was its usual zoo-like state in there anyway!

If you already have an iphone, I read you can download the store's app and those orders are going thru immediately.

Whoa - really? I have to go check that out - through the App Store I guess? Off to look!

DH was able to pre-order the iphone 4 for himself and I today at the At&T store at about noon. They will arrive at the store on 6.24 but we won't be able to pick them up until 6.25 as they have to sort out who got what.

i was thinking about going to the store and getting one on 6.24 but decided it's better not to risk it.

Lara

Blah - nothing works now! So frustrating! Not the Apple website, the AT&T site, or the App.

UPDATE: Yippee! Finally was able to get them ordered through the Apple site!:cool1::cool1:

My DH was told if you choose to have the phone shipped to the store, you will not get until 6/25. If you have it shipped to your house you will reeive 6/24. To avoid the hassle, we had it shipped to our house.
