iPhone 6 deals?

We have a 4. On Fri, I spent 2 hours researching the iPhone 6, 64g. The edge plan is the best for us. Our current bill is $150, 2 lines unlimited data. We use r3g a month. We will pay $152 a month for 6g and 2 new iPhone 6. We each got a $100 gc which we used to pay tax and got otterboxes. So, our rate barely changed, got new phones, with covers.

That sounds exactly like our situation. We currently have 2 iphone 4s' and we share 2gb and we are limited to 1000 text messages each, and we pay $155. Did you get this deal through the Verizon website or did you have to negotiate in a store?

Why don't you just go to Apple and trade in your 4s. They gave me $125 for my broken iPhone 5 (has battery and screen).

I talked a friend who works at Apple and she said I could probably get $40 for my phone and my husband's power button doesn't work so he could get $30. Do they just give you a gift card or how does that work? And if its an Apple gift card, then that wouldn't help me towards upgrading my phone through Verizon.

I have Sprint and I have been told by many people that I should NEVER give up my plan. I don't know what it is(was) called, but it has been extinct for several years. We have a pool of 1500 shared anytime minutes (which is any time between 7a-7p, M-F when calling a landline), unlimited text and unlimited data. We pay $130/month for the first 2 lines and then $20/month for any additional lines, up to a total of 5. DH and I have iPhones which are subject to an additional $10/month each "premium" data charge. This was from back in the day where 4G was only accessible with certain phones and if your phone could access it, you paid the fee. Unfortunately, for the past 4 years, we have been paying this fee and still have no reliable 4G service in our area:furious:. (We live in the metro Grand Rapids area so we're not exactly out in the sticks!) Heck, my DH still has a 4S so he can't even get 4G if he wanted, but the surcharge has been added to all smartphones on the plan. Each of our kids has a Galaxy Tab 3 that they were giving away with a 2 year service agreement. At the time, we were able to get 2G of data for $15/month on each tablet.

So, we have 2 iPhones (I just upgraded to a 6 last week), 1 "dumb" phone (we use it as our home phone) and 2 tablets with 2GB data each on our plan. We pay about $200/month. I use my phone a LOT at work. I'm a paramedic and in the ambulance for most of my shift. I stream Pandora radio, Netflix and watch my ABC shows when I am not busy. I probably use about 8-10GB of data per month by myself, and that does not include the times I tether my laptop to the phone. If/When Sprint's 4G LTE ever improves around here, I will be a very happy camper.

I actually kept my 4S and let my DD use it as an iTouch:teeth:. Now the other daughter (who has her own iTouch already!) is begging DH to upgrade his 4S to the 6 so that she can have his "phone":rotfl2:.

We got it at Target. But I was so unsure of the Target mobile guy that I walked a few rows away and called Verizon directly to confirm all the numbers. DHand I didn't want to give up our 4s, we will use them as iPods. After we bought at Target we went right to Verizon to get contacts transferred since we didn't have cloud access because of ISO not being updated in a loooooong time.

That's not too bad. Once your 24 months is up and the phones are paid off, do you know what your bill will be? Trying to compare this to Straight Talk.

Can you buy an unlocked I*Phone 6 and go with Straight Talk right from the beginning?

Is this correct?
With Verizon you pay $200 for an I*Phone 6 and they charge you about $75 per month for 24 months.
With Straight Talk you pay $650 for an I*Phone 6 and they charge you $45 per month for 24 months.

Total Verizon cost is $200 + 24*$75 = $2000
Total Straight Talk cost is $650 + 24*$45 = $1730

Seems like Verizon is charging you 30% interest to borrow $450. Isn't that a bit steep?

I thought the PP was on edge so no $200 initial payment.

Yes, I'm leaning toward buying an unlocked iphone from apple (buying gift cards from Kroger so I can save 14%). And I pay ST annually so I basically get one month free. For one line, ST is awesome. But I may need to add a line or two in the next couple of years (I have a 10 and 11 year old) so then I'd probably go to Ting.

I need to research this too. We have a plan through att and work but we are maxed out on the number of lines in the plan. I want to get my son an iPhone for his birthday this summer and don't really know where to begin to find the best rate/plan for a single line, att works best in our area.

WENROB, It may be laid out for you but you get hit with TONS of extra fees. Do you pay just tax? If you get Boost, Virgin, etc. you ONLY pay tax, that's it, no other fees. Just wanted to make that clear. We used to get hit with about $30 in extra fees and taxes on Sprint, that was awhile back and we had a $50 plan between the two of us sharing data. On Virgin, we had unlimited data and text, my husband's plan was $40 with IPhone 4S had 1200 voice minutes a slow down after 3 1/2 gigs data. I had Samsung Galaxy 3 unlimited text and data with 300 voice minutes (we have a land line), a $35 plan, and between us paid under $79 a month TOTAL for both combined including tax. Not each.

Just make sure the provider you are going with has clear service in the area of your home and anywhere else you may be with the phone. My former workplace tried to skimp on phone costs and found that over half the time I could not be reached due to poor signals, even at my home. Our town has 40,000 residents and we live 12 NW of Lexington, KY, not a rural area. Our son's girlfriend lives 1.7 miles away, her family just switched from Verizon to T-Mobile to lower costs. She no longer has a signal and is using an old phone to text with now. At&T and Verizon are the only 2 suitable options for us, both are about the same price, but Verizon has the better customer service.

That doesn't necessarily limit you to those providers, though. Straight talk uses Verizon and AT&T towers (I think I'm on AT&T towers).

We never have problems with service on Virgin or T-Mobile but T-Mobile is a GSM phone so that may be why. I do know that Virgin uses Sprint's towers. They do check your area when you sign up.

Personally, I would give up that plan if I had bad service as you describe. I'm paying $140 with Verizon for two smart phones with stellar service. Unlimited talk and text and 6GB.

Ask Verizon to price out your bill if you get an iphone 6 under Verizon Edge. It's confusing when they explain it to you because they try to be cute and say things like "edge up" instead of upgrade early to get a new phone. But anyway, we just upgraded a phone on my family plan to an iphone 6 and were prepared to pay the $200. Instead, we ended up doing the no-contract Edge plan. We will pay the entire $650 for the phone over 2 years, which works out to $27/month, but they give you a $25 line credit for the no-contract line, which meant the monthly cost only went up by about $2.

Caveats: You have to pay the sales tax on the full price of the phone upfront. In my state, it's 7%, so that added $45. Add that to the approximately $48 over 2 years for the bill increase, and we are ultimately paying a bit under $100 for the phone. Not bad. And the upside is they said the $25 line credit stays after the phone is paid off since it's still no-contract, so if we choose not to get a new phone right away once it's paid off, we'll be saving a lot.

I believe this is only true at the carrier's retail store. When I purchase my phones at Sam's Club or Costco they tax on THEIR price. So if the phone is $50 that's what they tax you on - not the $600+.

With edge you are buying the phone interst free in exchange for a lower monthly rate. That's why you pay sales tax on the full price.

I didn't realize they were referencing only Edge. Sorry for the confusion. I was speaking of purchasing the discounted phones at other retailers. Thanks for clarifying.

Gophone (AT&T) ... has a $30.00 a month plan ... unlimited talk & unlimited text

Just found out that T-Mobile DOES charge those surcharge fees, Virgin did not. IT can add up to about 17% more of your bill. Will not go with T-Mobile now!
