Iphone 5 case recommendations

I've had oth, commuter is a lighter version, defender has extra layer of protection. Having small kids I liked defender!

Be careful with otter box cases. There are a bunch of fake flooding the market.

That being said I do use a speck candy shell. Soft inside. Hard outside!

I got my tmobile iPhone 5 today. Ended up getting a Body Glove Shock Suit case with a built in screen protector. It's a double layer case. Hard shell with a grippy exterior. I really like it a lot.

My husband just got his iPhone 5 last week and we bought an Otterbox defender for it. He wanted the lifeproof case but the person at Best Buy told us he'd heard about some defects with the iPhone 5 case and that they'd had several people come in and buy a defender while they waited for lifeproof to replace or fix the issues.

Best Buy ended up having an open box (that had all the parts in it) and was $15 less than the original price. Score!

I have this same case for my iphone 5. My company provides my phone--therefore provides the case you are required to use. I know why they choose this case--NOTHING is going to harm my phone through this case. I have dropped it out of my SUV numerous times. It also has a hard plastic clear front so not one piece of your phone is exposed.

On the down side--it make the cute little phone much bigger.

I use Speck candyshell too...it was specifically recommended by the guy at the Apple store and is pretty affordable (~$35). I also put a screen protector on the phone...working fine so far!

What case do you recommend - good protection, but lightweight. I'm not usually a rough user, but certainly have the occassional drops and oops. Thanks,

My husband has an Otterbox on his and when I get my iPhone 5 I will be getting the same or a Survivor Case. Either one is good. I had an otterbox on my iPhone 4 but decided to get something smaller to fit in my pocket when I was at work. Something less noticeable:cool1:.

DD loves the Speck cases and has the candy shell. I do understand the love for the Otterboxes and they do their job but if you want something less bulky the Speck candy shell survived drops for 3 years on her Iphone4 and she's now bought another for her Iphone5. We've been happy with them.

My wife and I have Otter Box Commuter cases on ours.

I've got an Otterbox Commuter with a screen protector. I don't like the bigger otterbox cases because it takes what's a slim phone and turns it into an inch-thick monstrosity.

I have only had the phone a few days tho, and I haven't dropped it. I used to drop my Droid X2 all the time, so we'll see how this one holds up. (Didn't even have a case on the X2. Never even scratched it.)

I have an otterbox commuter- love it.

My DH has this one on his iPhone 5 and it is a pretty good case, better, even than the commuter for the 4/4S (which I have).

He also has an incipio DualPro, which he likes, but prefers his Otterbox Commuter.

I have an otterbox which had really done it's job well. My phone has gone flying in all directions. It is a thick case which I have a love/hate relationship with. I am glad is has some bulk because it makes it easier for me to hold and thus less likely to drop. On the other hand it does limit how easy it is to slip into a pocket or a mini purse.

We have the otterbox defender, otterbox commuter and the lifeproof at our house. Wife uses the defender, I use the commuter. The lifeproof sits in the box.

I'd see if you could get your hands on a few and "play" with them a bit before settling down.

As someone mentioned, if you find them for a ridiculous price online, they are fake. There are fake versions of all three of those cases around. Might not matter to you if it's fake, until it does. If you know what I mean.
