iPhone 4 and digital movie license question?

With trip coming up less than a week a way, I finally decided I wanted to transfer the movie Toy Story 3 onto the phone in order to have it for viewing on the plane and in lines for rides.

Purchased the 3 disc set at the store, and I have the digital license for it - it currently resides in my iTunes library for viewing on the laptop.

Unfortunately, it is not transferring to the iPhone when I sync to it.

I've tried adding it to a playlist so I could find it easier (the iPhone only has a standard playlist for Music Videos and Podcasts under the Videos tab.

It's not the end of the world, because I have saved a few podcasts and plan on saving this weeks shows for the trip, but this movie is the absolute favorite of my nephew (age 2.5) who is on his first trip to the world. Just trying to help bring a little magic to a young kid who is going to be out of his routine and standing in lines in hot weather!

PS - already watched Star Trek on the iPhone screen once using Netflix App, and a lot is lost in translation on such a small screen! Must remember to bring my reading glasses

Select the movie in iTunes, click on advanced and then select "create ipod/ipad/iphone/apple tv version" (as the case may be).

I have also seen in the past that if the movie audio is set to the 5.1 surround track it won't sync to the phone as it can't playback that soundtrack. Try clicking on the audio bubble of the movie while it's playing back on your computer and change the audio to stereo and then try to re-sync and see.

Well, I tried that while on a business trip (nothing better to do in the hotel room anyway!) and the two options above were not available for selection under Advanced when I had highlighted the movie.

Sometimes I have an issue with trying to sync to the phone anyway if I am not sitting in the office connected to the docking station. I think it may recognize the laptop differently (i.e. different IP address?) so I will wait until I am back in the office on Monday.

If that doesn't work, no big deal, but I feel like this is something I must master now that I have tried and failed! Maybe I'll switch to decaf and get over it
