O.K. I know that their are several of us Dis'er including a few podcast members that have and love their iPhones. With that said, don't forget to tune into either www.tuaw.com or www.macrumors.com today at 1:00pm est for an advance preview" of the iPhone 3.0 firmware at a special media event today at the the Apple campus in CA.

What is on your "Dream List" of new features you would like to see in 3.0?

For me it would be:

1: copy and paste
2: video recording mode
3: push notification in apps that aren't open/multi tasking
4: A better way to quickly access and/or categorize multiple pages of apps!

Your Turn.........

Picture messaging.
Forwarding text messages.
Verizon as an option... Well, it *is* a DREAM list...;)

Your contact's dates (i.e. birthdays and anniversaries) show up on you calendar.

Love all of your wish lists. Mine also includes wanting copy and paste, picture txting and I didn't think about it till I saw another poster say it....the birthdays and anniversary's to come up on our calendars from our contacts list.

(btw, I had no idea there was a 3.0 coming till I saw this post. Thanks for the heads up!) :goodvibes

And all those wishlists remind me of why I am excited to see the Palm Pre...of course it could be an epic fail but real competition for the iPhone is good for everyone.

So far we are getting Copy/Paste, MMS, Push Notification of apps and a built in voice recorder.

Keep it coming Apple:thumbsup2

Seems like Apple are putting into place stuff that has already been about for a while on the homebrew scene (copy and paste/mms). Wonder why they took so long?

:goodvibes

:) Great news, but the one thing I really, really, really want??????

Turn by turn GPS in Maps OR, for Apple to finally allow 3rd party devs to "legally" do it.

OK, stupid question. This will just be a software update, right? Not a new version of the phone itself? I hope!!

Me too...but better late than never.

I'd say they have learned a lot about what people are most interested in by looking at the jailbrake/homebrew scene.

Apple has released to Dev's the ability to use turn by turn, but you have to BYOM....bring your own maps:confused3

software update, not a new Iphone.

However, if the rumours are to believed, look for a new Iphone between July and September.

Cool, didn't know they are finally allowing anyone to do that. As far as the BYOM? I think that is a GREAT idea. Reason? You won't have to rely on having a cellular connection to get the maps from Google maps. They would be stored locally on the iPhone itself, allowing GPS usage even in area's with no cell coverage. (At least that is the way I understand it from a few boards I am a member of).

Shew!

I've only had my iPhone since Dec, so I know I wont' be getting a new one anytime soon!

Agree, being able to download what maps you will need before you leave the house will be very useful!

I have a turn-by-turn app that relies on google maps and like you say, if you suddenly hit a blackspot then what can you do!!

Apparently Tom-Tom have had an app ready for ages but needed Apple's go-ahead so hopefully we will see it soon :)

Yeah, been reading about the Tom-Tom app for a while now.....let's hope this means it will finally be "allowed" to be released. :thumbsup2

Figures though....my next trip to Disney is driving, from PA this June. What do you wanna bet 3.0 will be out the week after I come back, :lmao:
