Hi all,
Do any of you allow your kids to bring their ipads or kindles into the kids clubs? My 11 year old will be at the Edge (and Oceaneer only to check on his little brother) and he asked me if other kids would have their electronics in the Edge?
I wasn't planning on allowing this, but I'm curious if he will see others with them. We will have them on the ship because we are flying from CA to FL:)
Thx:)

I would not let my kids take electronics to the club. WAY too high of a chance they will put it down somewhere and another kid will snatch it up and walk off with it. Not everyone is super honest...

Also, if she is just going to play on her ipad, why not just do so while sitting in the cabin? Why go to the club to be on a device?

My DD carries her iPod Touch with her, but that's because she uses that for the Navigator app to text me. But I wouldn't recommend taking a tablet or Kindle to the kids clubs. He'd have to set it down while involved in activities and I'd be afraid it would get misplaced or stolen.

Mine take their phones for the texting app & to take pics, other than that there's too much going on in the clubs to be sitting around playing on their devices.

Thanks for the replies, I was thinking the same thing. He likes to play with his friends here at home, and they watch each other play, too- which is why he was asking. But I think I'll stick to my original plan of leaving them in the cabin!

I've heard mixed reviews on using the Navigator app for texting. Did it work well for you? My son has an ipod touch that he could carry around in his pocket...

It worked very well this past cruise. Our cruise last June, there was one time a series of texts my DD was sending me didn't come through. My phone appeared like it was connected and everything was fine, but somehow the app had disconnected from the network. I discovered when I tried to send DD a text and it wouldn't send. I shut the app down, opened it back up, and then all the texts came through. But when we cruised at the beginning of this month, everything worked fine. I received notifications each time my DD sent a text.

Same, but it's a SIM-free Samsung that DS uses.

It's better than nothing! And nothing is better than the wave phones IMO.

Just know there might be a delay. Know that you should probably open the app totally and open the texting part, to make sure you're getting texts, that it might not let you know there's a text. So you need to be aware of the need to check.

Other than that, DS doesn't bring electronics.
