There are many different iPad offerings. Obviously the more storage you have, the more you'll pay. Currently the most is 128GB. Here's a link: http://store.apple.com/us/ipad/compare

As far as how you transfer things, you would back it up on a computer and then transfer it to your new device.

backing your old iPad to your computer and then restoring it onto the new iPad will work...

but it is recommended that you start fresh and new...

The only way to ensure that is to stick with what you have. There is always a risk something could go wrong and you would lose everything.

That. In your app store, there is an purchase list. On that, you can choose between Not on iPad or All purchases...

In a perfect world, that is certainly true. But we don't know that it is the case for OP. The only way to be 100% sure not to lose them is to leave them on the device they are on and not mess with it. If it is that important to her she may wish to be better safe than sorry. Not necessarily the choice you or I would make but it is a risk-free option.

Not really. The device it's on could be damaged, stolen or just quit working. Or her entire library could just *poof* disappear as mine did a few years ago. iTunes restored anything I bought from them right away. The only way to insure things don't get lost is to have multiple back ups-iTunes/Cloud and hard copies. Amazon and other sources also provide similar back up. If she has any or all of the above she'll be okay. Her origional device won't last forever, switching will happen eventually. Losing everything completely is almost impossible.

I have to say my friend is letting me use hers for the night I like some things better but very hard to see when typing
