Thinking about getting hubby an IPad for his Birthday

Can you tell me what you love / hate about it to help me.

Thanks :)

Hate? Nothing. Wait till the new one comes out and then buy the old one! Outside of a camera, I see no reason to not purchase the one that's available now. Plus, your pockets will thank you.

Agreed. I just can't see myself taking a picture with that thing. The IPAD is convenient but not for taking photos.

I love mine, but I don't think I would use the camera feature on the new one.

I love my iPad. I think he will enjoy it.

:thumbsup2. Same here. I bought mine about a month ago and the only bad thing I can say about it is everybody in the house always wants it.:rotfl2:And I don't like to share!

I'm interested in the camera feature in order to use Skype and other FaceTime apps. If I like the new feature set enough, I'll upgrade from the iPad1 to the iPad2 and either keep the old one as a spare for another family member or sell it to a friend.

I use the iPad for just about all my social computer use - FaceBook, email, surfing the web, checking and reading blogs, etc.

I have all the reading apps and I sometimes use it to read from my Amazon account using the Kindle app. If I set the brightness down and change the backgound color to sepia, I can read for a couple of hours without having any eye issues. More than that and my eyes start to feel blurry. I much prefer reading on my Kindle for long-term pleasure reading.

The iPad is a ROCK STAR (apologies to Charlie Sheen) when it comes to magazines. I have almost all my magazines in digital form now - no more paper clutter, always available, beautiful color, ability to enlarge the page, etc. Some of the enhanced magazines are really amazing.

The other day I was reading the the new Marie Claire - not an enhanced version, just my regular subscription through Zinio. I turned a page and the story was a fashion shoot on a beach. They had embedded sound effects and you could "hear" the waves breaking on the shore behind the model. Very, very cool!!!

I love the iPad and I don't see ever being without a tablet of some form again. It replaces almost all the functions of my laptop and desktop. I still need another computer for word processing, etc. but the iPad is a great, great addition!!!!

I may be the minority here but we have an Ipad and a Samsung Galaxy Tab and I have to say that I LOVE the Tab more than the Ipad. It is SOOO much more convenient but basically the same thing... just my opinion!

Love mine use it everywhere I go,my darliing granddaughter (2yrs) loves to play her learning games. :yay:

Can you tell us a little about what makes it so much more convenient? Just curious about the differences between the two.

 My IPAD is the best present my DH ever bought me...I hardly ever go on our home computer, maybe to print, thats it. All my friends tease me saying it is like my new third arm. You will not be disappointed, one of the best inventions for me...

Yes, basically the size is it's best feature besides that it does have a camera (a pretty good one) and a forward facing camera for FaceTime. We like to bring it with us when we travel, restaurants, events, etc... and for the kids but mainly the little one because the older 2 have the Ipod touch. We found that the Ipad is not convenient to carry around but the Tab fits in my purse with ease and a man could easily put it in a pants pocket (doesn't look like it but try it). I like them both but like I said, I find Tab just more convenient. FYI... we leave tomorrow for WDW and we will most likely bring it in the parks with us but I would not consider doing that with the Ipad.

what about using it for Documents like spreadsheets?

I am another who just loves my iPad. It is so portable and easy to use and has definitely replaced my laptop. I just got it at the beginning of Feb. but I really have no use for the camera, so I'm not upset that I didn't wait for the 2. If I was buying one right now though I'd wait to see what the new one has, and if you don't need the new features, you may be able to get a good deal on the old one.

For those of you who use your ipad for almost everything, do you have a separate keyboard? I just can't type fast or easily on the ipad itself and am thinking about getting a keyboard before our spring break vacation. I have looked at the keyboards that are built into the cover, but I am not sure about them. Some reviews complain that it isn't a full size keyboard and is difficult to use. I know Apple sells one but I haven't checked out the size.

And for the pp who says they get their magazine subscriptions on the ipad, do you get a good rate? It's 3.99 an issue for Martha Stewart Living and I already have the regular subscription. I would LOVE to get all of my magazines on the ipad.
