Hi, first time doing carry on, is it ok to put my IPad in my personal carry on? Flying Alegiant if that makes a difference. We'll each have a carry on, and a personal item-small bag that meets TSA guidlines, it's ok to put the Ipad into that personal carry on?
Thanks!

Be aware you may need to remove it and scan it separately when going through TSA security unless you’re PreCheck.

You should keep ANY electronics, medical devices/medicine, and anything else of value with you in your personal carry on. This is just in case the bins get full and carry on bags need to get checked.

Yes, you can bring various types of PC's/phones in your carry-on luggage. I would never put fragile/delicate electronic equipment in checked baggage. Theft or rough handling of any high value items can be an issue. TSA procedures are the same regardless of which airline you are using. They may ask you to place the PC separately on the TSA screening belt to x-ray, but it's no big deal. Rarely I have seen them ask someone to power up their device at the TSA screening area to prove it works and isn't being used to hide something that shouldn't be inside the device. I would assume this was based on what the scanner showed.

I recommend you have it charged in the remote chance you need to demonstrate to TSA that it is what you say it is. It used to happen a lot more than it does today, but it still does happen.

Also, if you aren't Pre-Check and need to put it through the scanner in a bin, KEEP YOUR EYE ON IT, especially as it exits the scanner. Unscrupulous travelers have been known to snatch items before the items' owners emerge from the body scanner.

You might find your iPad useful in flight. Several airlines offer free in-flight entertainment apps. (Don't forget earphones.)
