I am curious if anyone else has this problem with their IPad. Whenever I am loading a thread that has alot of pictures in it my IPad will quite often close out my safari section and go back to the main screen. Anyone have a solution or have this problem?

This is a memory issue. The ipad only has so much memory and can't 'memory swap' to disk like a mac or pc. If safari starts taking too much memory up it will quit to keep the ipad from crashing.

Your best solution is to try to find a setting on the boards to reduce the number of posts that appear per page.

Try closing all other apps first. I have seen this issue on both my iPhone and iPad with the facebook app.

Make sure you *really* close all the other apps. Now that the iPad multitasks, lots of apps run in the background. Double-click the Home button, and the multitask bar of icons should come up for the processes running in the background. Press & hold one of the icons until a (-) minus sign appears on all of them. Touch the (-) minus sign, and that will kill the background task. Do that for each app on the bar. That should free up a lot of memory for your safari task.

Thanks for this question and the responses! I was having this problem and it got so bad that I couldn't even navigate to the site at all without crashing Safari. DH worked some magic that seems to have fixed it, but good to know these tips if it happens again. :goodvibes

I'm really glad you posted this question. I actually to my IPad to the genius bar for this problem and they gave me a new one. Got the new one home and the problem continued. I will try everyones suggestions!

My iPad does the same thing. I'm online, doing whatever I'm doing, and then suddenly I'm not. I'm on the home screen. It is an annoyance. Doesn't seem to be linked to pictures, though.

It also gets stuck when going from one Internet page to another.

Other than that, no problems.

I remember, as a kid, going to my dad's office and seeing the room with the computer. I know that things from childhood always turn out to be smaller than we remember them, but it was an entire room, just for that.

The only thing that old computer did that interested me was print my name out really large, with each large letter being made up of smaller letters, in that old dot-matrix way. That was so cool that I hung it up on my bedroom door.

Now I complain that my iPad goes back to the home screen. :rotfl:

They're spoiling us!

I was in the Apple store today. While, waiting... I decided to "play" with the new iPad. The first thing I noticed, it was "warm". I picked up another one..same thing. I turned around and tried another iPad...not "warm". I went to settings, then to About. Sure enough it was an iPad 2.

I commented to the salesperson, regarding the difference. He felt each iPad and said, "oh, no..they are ALL new iPads." I responded, " uh, no..they're not. This one is a 2." Again, he said, "no...it's not a 2. It's a new one." I showed him, the info on the screen, but he was still in disbelief. So, he held them side by side..and said, "that's odd".

I believe, the complaints about the battery "getting hot".
