Got a new iPad 2 weeks ago. Ordered/installed a case and a screen overlay.

It seems as if the overlay makes the screen less sensitive to the touch, and less easy to use.

Read quite a few forums...Apple no longer sells screen protectors...some say glass screen is almost impervious scratches due to type of glass and coating.

Saw a video where the screen could not be scratched with a nail.

Some say putting screen protector on iPad is like leaving the plastic on a couch...sure it keeps it clean but does not allow product to be used as designed.

Others say protectors can actually cause the iPad to run hotter.

Many others swear by the protectors...which if I spent $20 on one, I'd be bragging on it too.

Experienced iPad users...What say you?

I don't have a screen protector on either my iPad or iPhone, and they're both just fine. I've only had the iPad since Christmas, and it's in a case, so there's really not a lot of opportunity for it to get scratched. The iPhone, on the other hand, I've had for awhile. I carry it in my pocket, occasionally forget and put my keys in with it, have dropped it in a parking lot once, dropped it down the steps several times, and there's not a scratch on it. I had a screen protector on my original iPhone for awhile, and I didn't really like it. I felt it did diminish the sensitivity somewhat. If you do use one, don't get a cheap one! DH has a cheap one on his iPhone, and it just looks blurry. He's gotten used to it, but I don't see how.

Nope--- I used to have one on my iphone....but I removed it and it is much more sensitive and easier to clean. I didn't buy one for my ipad2. I'm a purist-- I want it to work the way the developers intended.

Yes, I use a screen protector that I bought at Wal Mart near the iPad accessories. The touch screen works fine. I also use my pink iPad cover.

I have one that came with the skin kit that i didn't put on the front. I like the feel of the glass and I think it's really durable.

I have a ipod and an ipad and don't have a screen protector for either. I tried one with my ipod when I first got it and hated it and never used it again. I did get a huge scratch on my ipod because I am really rough with it. I just toss it in my purse. I was able to buff most of the scratch out of it and don't even notice it. I keep my ipad in my purse too, but I do keep it in a case.

No screen protecter on my iPad. But my kids have protectors on their iTouch screens.

Tried one with my Itouch and HATED it. I thought it got smudged faster, and was harder to wipe clean than the glass. So when I got my IPad I never even considered one, and I don't regret that decision one bit.

The IPad screen seems rather tough and the neoprene case covers the screen when not in use. I'm not particularly gentle with my things:rotfl:But have had no problems with screen scratches. Oh, and FWIW, I love my IPad:love:

Nope, to be honest I'm all thumbs when it comes to trying to put on screen protectors :(.

I had 2 ipod 1st gen (long story as to why), but when the ipad 2 came out I sold them on ebay for enough to buy an ipad 2 + accessories. The ipad 1's were sent to some electronic company buying up electronics. I listed mine as condition brand new. All I had on them were the Apple covers and skins from Decal Girl. When I removed all that, they were determined to be in the condition I described.

So for my ipad 2, I bought the cover they sell for it, and again a skin from Decal Girl. One thing I really like is that you can actually see the skin on the back, instead of it being hidden behind a cover.

One thing I do use is the stylus that is available. It eliminates all those fingerprints you get all over the glass and gives you a lot more control. It looks like a pen, and i snap it right onto the cover so it doesn't get lost!

I'm the same as others, had an iPod touch, use a iPhone, had an original iPad, now have a iPad 2 and never used a screen protector.

Ok...my screen protector is coming OFF!...and I'm going to use the ipad as Apple designed it to be used.

Screen sensitivity keeps getting worse with the screen protector.

In fact, the plastic wrapper thebipad came in had a better 'feel' than this screen protector.

Thanks for all of your input.

Removed...much better.

I feel kinda naughty...
