Ipad as your camera!! Get real!!

I'm a photographer, and let me tell you what's annoying... iPads in wedding photos! GUESTS holding their phones and tablets in the air during the wedding, most of which will never be looked at again, but ruining paid photography, and in many instances... Very expensive photography. Guests even standing out into the aisle to get a good iPhone shot of the bride and groom having their first kiss, stepping directly into the line of the photographer and expensive dSLR that is there to capture the wedding. You would not believe how many important shots are ruined. It's one of the main topics in photography forums. Please don't ever be "that guy".

I'm do glad to hear I'm not the only one who had issues with this.

IPods/IPhones I don't really mind (though it so weird to have a stranger had you their phone so you can help take a photo for them).

But earlier this summer I went to DL for the first time since I was 3 and was SO upset when an adult cut in front of us during Fantasmic to video the whole thing on his IPad! He kept moving around to get it all and all the people behind him could see was a giant screen.

We didn't say anything but it really ruined the experience. I hope as technology continues to improve, we'll see more people using devices like the IPad/camera adapter or smaller devices.

Well, seeing how you quoted my specific post, one could easily assume you were referring to the person in my party mentioned. If you're responding to the main topic, quoting someone else wouldn't be necessary.

And my judgment comment was aimed at everyone in this thread who has stated outrageous things about how other people are choosing to use their iPad.

I quoted you because I was talking TO you, not ABOUT you or your "sis". And once again, this is a discussion board. Saying that other people's opinions are "outrageous" can be taken as judgmental also.

I don't really care what anyone does with their iPad or as long as it's not obstructing views. Would I do it? I would not. During our MNSSHP visit a guy in front of us requested his own log in Splash and recorded the entire thing on his iPad. He was dressed as a banana. He had the best exit pic I have ever seen, too, despite hanging onto the iPad.

I usually take pics with my IPhone and put on Photobucket Ap for sharing on DISboards....hardly ever use a digital camera any more.

ST, how do you do that can you explain it? Is there a photo bucket APP? I would love to share my pics here on the DIS as well! Thanks!

Also APPLE is making an announcement on Tuesday about the brand new MINI IPAD! It's coming out mid Nov (I think) and the cost will be $299.00! I am excited for it! I do have an iPad but I really would like this MINI! :yay:

I'm following MacRumors (reliable tech site), and they say it'll be released around November 2 starting at $329...we shall see tomorrow...(yes, because it's 1 am for me now).

Moving this to community board so that folks can continue to discuss as this is no longer relevant to Trip Planning.

I was at an orthodox jewish wedding years ago and during the men's only part of the ceremony I saw a number of men (black hats, long trench coats, etc.) pulling out their Palm Pilots to take photos. They were holding them up over their heads and trying to see the screen while using their stylus to take the pic. Thought it was very odd, of course the shots of Wild Turkey at 11:00 AM may have had some input ;) . l'chaim!

Oh man!! If I were a photographer, I'd strongly encourage my client to include on their wedding invitations that the bride and groom kindly request no such devices. I couldn't imagine bringing an IPad to a wedding of all places!!

Yes, there's a free Photobucket ap (The origninal Photobucket ap is better than the new Snapbucket). Anyway, you take pictures with your IPhone, then go into the Photobucket ap and upload it, you have a couple of choices like "choose new pictures", or you can just pick and choose from your phone what pictures you want uploaded. So easy!!

cameras can be much much smaller and take up barely any room. You can stick in in your pocket or buy a little case for it that goes onto a backpack strap. IF you're really interested in taking any sort of photos, get a camera.

But it is still a second device to buy, carry, and keep track of for those who would carry their iPad regardless. That's the reason some use iPads as cameras - because the all-in-one convenience outweighs the awkwardness and lesser photo quality.

I really don't think the all in oneness outweighs the awkwardness (not even close), but anyway I hear that there is a camera coming out that will use the android OS so its a camera with a tablet vs a tablet with a camera.

Looks like Nikon and Samsung are both developing one.

You are also making the assumption that if they have a camera and an iPad they would still carry them all the time, even in the parks.

I think it's silly when people use/rely on ipods, ipads, cell phones etc for vacation pictures. It will never compare to a real camera and you can usually get a pretty decent point for not much money. But to each his own and as long as you're not obstructing my view or being obnoxious it's none of my business. And for the record, I have an iPhone for and yes I agree, it takes pretty decent pictures (the main camera, at least) but I'd never let it replace a real camera!

Actually , the iphone takes really good pics. I use it since its smaller than my SLR. If i want to take pictures that day i naturally bring the full camera bag, but sometimes i just want to use my brain for memories and not live behind the camera.
The iphone is the perfect compromise. I have a decent camera if i need it without carrying an entire bag around all day.
I am new to iphone but i was pleasantly surprised with the photo quality. Videos are pretty good too!

I've seen it all over disney in August! And also when i was in France in July. Its ridiculous!!!!

(Sorry i didnt read the whole thread, just chiming in now).

MEFA, are the rumors saying its pretty cool and worth the $325.00???

Well, darn, ST, that is just so wicked cool!! Thanks for posting. I live here in the OC and hit up DL/DCA and while I can post all my iPhone pics on FB, I want to post over here and had no clue how! THANKS SO MUCH!
:thumbsup2

While I love my iPhone and have had it a year and think the picture quality is amazing … it will eat up your battery esp if you take allot of videos in the Parks like I do.

MY BEEF … I just wish there were TONS OF OUTLETS all over the place so we could RE CHARGE our batteries.

Worth has a whole other meaning when it comes to Apple products.

I may start looking into getting a $200 Android tablet so as not to be beholden to the Man. :thumbsup2

But consider it a large iPod touch or a small iPad. Yes I know there is some other geeking stuff like processor but most people don't look into that stuff. Just how big it is.

Yeah I actually just printed out a 4x6 from my iphone and it looks pretty decent! (Thought I had l lost my camera, turns out it was in my sweatshirt which my cat was sitting on:rotfl:) It'll never replace a real camera for me nor do I think it should for anyone else, but I can understand using it.

Yes, those are the ones I was referring to in my post. The Nikon is already available for sale, but the Samsung isn't yet. I really like the Samsung version better, but I'm afraid it won't have a wifi only version and I don't need an AT&T data plan. There's also been no clue as to price, although the Nikon isn't priced outrageously. I would be much more likely when traveling to use a "smart camera" than a smartphone (well, seeing as my phone isn't "smart" ;)).

i love using my iPhone when going to the parks. i rarely drag a camera around anymore.

cant wait to use FaceTime with the iPad mini at the parks as well.
